It's the old saying about driving slow cars fast. My 1976 Datsun is not quick, by any means, but boy is it fun to drive. I feel the same way about the Type R, it's not ridiculously fast, but it's fun and gives me enjoyment while also being a great daily. It really reminds me of my old Evo...
OP messaged me privately asking about high mileage, so I figured I'd share with everyone...
I am at 134,xxx miles as of now. I should make 135,000 within the next few days. I've replaced the brake pads, I believe, 4 times. Currently running Project Mu pads, but they are NOISY, so I'll be...
I'm at 135,000 miles and I've gone through four or five sets of brake pads, but I've yet to need a resurface on the rotors. Both Honda and independent shops have confirmed the surfaces are fine.
Oh yeah, been there done that enough times, lol. I'm impressed with how long it's lasted.
I'm currently rebuilding my Evo X with a stage 4 Comp clutch. I daily drove it for years. If you can daily a clutch like that, the CTR is cake. The stock clutch on the X only lasted about 60,000...
I should hit 117,000 miles this week. Purchased brand new in June of 2017.
I have experienced zero true issues. I had to do the wire harness recall, which was fine. At my 100,000 mile service they adjusted the valves and refreshed the fluids. During the warm months I drive on 18" Volk...
I come from the DSM/Evo/STI world and I completely agree with this take. I moderated a very large Evo forum for several years and nearly all of us who tuned our cars eventually saw issues. The more substantial the modifications, the more likely there was a major issue. And, for "lightly...
116k miles here, and no, I've not had any issues with engine oil consumption.
There is a 100k service where they go over the brakes, various fluids, and check valves. They did have to adjust several of my valves, but nothing too crazy. I left my car overnight and it was done the next morning.
That's not what I've heard. RHDJapan even specifies that one doesn't fit the USDM Type R. I've seen two different numbers for the Mugen steering wheel:
78501-XNCF-K0S0-R
or
78501-XNCF-K1S0-R
Do you have a Mugen wheel?
Good to know. The valve adjustment is listed "as needed" in the manual, so we'll see. I've made an appointment at the dealer because I live in an area where reliable shops are hard to find outside of basics.
I am at 92,000 miles on my 2017 CTR and my service reminder just came on, so it looks like it's time for the 100k service. I used the forum search function, but didn't find anything that could answer my questions, so here goes.
Has anyone hit this service yet?
If so, what should I expect when...
I will hit 91,000 miles today. Bought in June 2017. This car has been a great daily, and even though I'm looking at getting an Audi or a Gladiator within the next year, I am fine continuing to drive the CTR until I decide to change.
