Fixed, fully warranty paid. Tech said after replacing the A/C Compressor Shaft Seal it passed a leak down test. We'll see how long it lasts. The service advisor wouldn't say whether the part is improved or not.
I was able to find the part at another dealer and called out the service advisor. They are purchasing the part from another dealer in town and we'll see what happens from here. After all this they are likely to find something else leaking.
I simply don't have time to move the car around the metro Atlanta area (traffic nightmare during any sort of business hours) to find a part. I feel like the service advisor is kind of an @#$% for not telling me up front that the primary part they have to replace in order to do any sort of leak...
I took my 2017 Civic Touring Sedan to the dealer this morning to get the 2nd A/C failure checked out. The SA told me that the compressor shaft seal is backordered with no release date at this time, and that they can't confirm whether that's even the issue until they do that replacement. WTF...
The paint on my 2017 Touring Sedan it’s buckling and flaking off around the rear windshield.
I’m taking it Tuesday for AC failure #2 and will raise this issue. This car has been a huge disappointment.
I tend to agree, it's a cop out to say it was a bad vendor. Honda sold me the car. I didn't do business with a 3rd party supplier. Even if Honda ends up putting a warranty on all three major components through 10 years, it's still a huge pain to take it to the dealer once every year or two...
Thanks, that's very helpful, hopefully to other folks on here as well. I really appreciate it. It gives me some context next time I take it in for A/C issues.
What's your overall take on these A/C issues? Has Honda started providing parts that are more robust than those delivered, say, from the factory on my 2017? Mine was repaired (condenser, compressor) at 55K and I just had to refill the refrigerant after 20K more miles. I'm just interested in...
Yeah the warranty Honda is offering is helpful but not if you are a high mileage driver. My car is 6 years old and has 85K on it, so I have about one more year of "coverage" with their extended warranty. After 100K miles the A/C in this car is a ticking time-bomb. I did do a DIY refill of the...
I ran an errand around 8AM this morning, about 77F, and it's blowing cold from the center vents. By mid-day when it's in the 90's it won't be able to keep up. I'm going to try a DIY recharge and see if that can get me through the summer. I loathe going to the dealer for anything. I assume I...
The recent letter says the "compressor shaft seal" is warranted for 10 years/unlimited miles.. I would think if that fails the compressor probably goes too, and they know it but are trying to avoid covering it. I have an open case so I'm waiting to hear what they say. Mine was repaired two...
Was this for previous work, or work that you need to have or are having done right now? I feel like their 10 year warranty on these parts should mean full reimbursement of the costs of repair, not just part of it?
Yeah, mine is failing again and I just don't have the motivation to take it to the dealer (yet). I'm hoping it's a warranted repair (condenser or compressor). My wife already hates the car because it's so low to the ground, and the passenger seat doesn't allow vertical adjustment and she's...
It's really too bad. It's such a nice driving car, great mileage, etc, but having to drop thousands to keep the A/C running (even if it all ends up warrantied through 100K miles) is ridiculous. People used to drive Civics to 200K miles, now it's a race to dump it before the A/C breaks again.
Mine also went nowhere until I called for a status update, and then it was immediately added to the queue. They probably have hundreds of claims pouring in every day.
I was curious about this as well. Who does that? It's a Honda Civic, not a Bentley. If getting good service requires bribing dealership employees, count me out.
I feel like eventually they’ll caver all three components. I’m at six years, 85K miles so only so much warranty left anyway. Mine is failing again, don’t yet know why. Compressor and condenser already replaced.
When my A/C condenser and compressor were replaced two years ago by the dealer, my car suddenly wouldn't start when they were bringing it around to me. They comped me a new battery at the time, but it's strange that the circumstances are so similar.
