have you tried reaching out to Honda with this video? i mean the manufacturer, not a dealership. you can create a ticket through the Honda website, i've done it before regarding this issue, but was told the same bs that the dealership told me, that it was the "floating calipers". but my point...
The type-r is more balanced for daily driving and utility, as you would imagine. Its definitely a fun car. The 1SS did not have magnetic ride, so the type-r has the advantage there, which I really enjoy having. But the Camaro is quite nimble...it's very planted. It's hard for me to say if...
Whether the sound is normal or not, I want it diagnosed correctly. If they can prove to me that its 100% the calipers and show me why its normal, I'll accept that. It just doesn't seem like the calipers to me. If you can get the issue with the wastegate actuator resolved, and that fixes the...
Whoa there, I'm not disagreeing with you. I was stating what I was told by Honda, as well as the dealership. But if you get confirmation that it's the Wastegate actuator, and get it professionally diagnosed, then submit that claim to Honda. I posted the directions on how to do so in an...
So I just got off the phone with Honda. The company, not the dealership. They were addressing my concern when I submitted a ticket, which I mentioned here earlier. They said that they have confirmed that it is the calipers, and the noise is completely normal. I do not have a way to test this...
my last performance vehicle was a 2016 Camaro 1SS, manual. i ordered it and was one of the first owners of that new gen Camaro, as i had picked it up in December of 2015. i loved it. the performance was unreal for under $40k. i fell into a financial situation and ended up selling it. but my...
1. i haven't had any issues with comfort, and i daily my '17 Si
2. i own the sedan, there are a few factors which affect used car value, so i'm not really sure that's a question to asking opinions on.
3. the infotainment system is a little slow to change between screens, but 90% of the time, i'm...
whether that was the right place to submit a mechanical question, i'm unsure, but beyond forums and dealerships, i'll throw out the bait into any lake with fish and see what i reel in.

i created a case ticket with Honda. the company's website, not a dealership. this was what i wrote to them:
2018 Civic Type-R
light grinding noise when decelerating, and in gear only. the noise drops with the RPM. sounds like something spinning. braking does not have an effect on the sound...
yes those were my thoughts exactly. i'm still thinking that it's something turbo-related. i think the techs at the dealership were guessing because they didn't take the time to figure out what it really was. like they heard the sound and immediately said "yup that's gotta be the brakes!"
Yeah I thought the same thing. It doesn't sound right. Might have to get it on a dyno or something and listen to the source of the sound more specifically.
Here is what I have from a technician at Honda:
"So I did get to test drive with the dealer rep and our field tech and what they said it was the brakes that are making that noise. What they had told me is because the caliper is a floating caliper. The reason the noise Is not there is because...
I took it to the dealership and took a ride with one of the mechanics with a Type-R, it's got the same issue. He's going to escalate the issue next week and get back to me on what it is. Hopefully it's something normal.
yeah it could be that. my only concern is wondering how serious the issue is, and if it is in fact that issue with the turbo. i'm so paranoid about other people driving my car, even the service crew at the dealership. i brought in my Si for an oil change, and the guy pulling it in obviously...
i have the same issue with my 2018 Type-R. i'm not so sure that it's the LSD. it's only when decelerating, and it's a spinning sound...disappears when the car is put into neutral. the sound is apparent when you let your foot off the gas, and goes away as soon as you give it any throttle...
