MORE BAD NEWS... The second battery cable reset did not work, not only did it not work, the surging seems even worse. I certainly hope a new transmission comes quickly, and with an incredible warranty, otherwise I am considering a lemon law suit.
BAD NEWS... I just left my honda delaer after a second battery cable reset/reboot. Honda Techline just instructed the dealer to order a new transmission for the car. They apparently got all the approvals and I am told a new transmission will show within the next 5 days and that they will swap...
After the first battery reset, mine returned at around 550 miles later. Pretty much all of a sudden. I might have felt a couple hiccups leading up to it
No worries here. I will just keep taking it back to the dealer and getting 300$ worth of waranteed labor for the test drives and battery reset plus a free car wash and shuttle ride to work and back to the dealer. Every 500 miles if that is what it is. I suppose if everyone experiencing this...
Well fans, on my way back from lunch, i was on a long flat stretch of road without traffic... tried to maintain a constant speed of 45 mph, and the lurching and surging has returned (significantly). So i made it a grand total of 550 miles of smooth driving since the dealer performed the battery...
And this may be why they arent working a fix for the 1.5 Turbo surging problem... bigger fish to fry.
"Stop sale issued for 2016 Honda Civic models with 2.0 L engine"
And that is a great point... everyone with the problem MUST take it to the dealer so it can generate enough attention to prioritize a permanent fix from Honda.
And they refused to do a battery cable reset? Interesting why there is so much inconsistency between dealers. They gave me something in writing that they are working on a permanent fix after the reset (which still seems to have done the trick for me... smooth ride, no surging, better gas mileage).
I still recommend that you have the dealer do this so that it is documented with Honda. My battery reset still seems to have done the trick... smoother ride, better gas mileage. How long will it last?
Drove my civic home from the dealer and I did not experience any of the subtle surging that I had previously (including during the drive to the dealership). Hope to experience the same smooth ride on the highway and that the problem doesn't return before honda can permanently patch fix what...
Honda Dealer called and they explained that they replicated the issue, did a ton of diagnostics and worked with Honda engineers and confirmed a software and or hardware problem, did a full reboot (battery cable disconnect) and the problem is now gone on road test and diagnostics (for now). They...
Dropped off my 16 Civic EXL at my Honda Dealer this morning. They replicated the problem and acknowledged the issue... They are still working on the fix. I did not mention the battery cable reset yet. I was going to see what they came up with following their standard procedures. Interestingly...
