  1. Stolen License Plate

It'll cost more money to fix body or bumper damage.
  2. Stolen License Plate

If someone wanted to steal my plates, I'm not sure having more difficult measures would do any good. Maybe they'll just screw up my car in the process of stealing them. At least with simple philips screws, they can just take it without damaging the car. As long as you file a police report soon...
  3. Has anyone replaced the horrible horn yet?

Interestingly, my 2016 Acura ILX has dual horns that don't sound micky-mouse.
  4. Should I be worried that people are taking pictures of my license plate?

If you don't want attention, don't have a vanity plate. Or anything unique about your car. I'm all about being anonymous, so I don't have any uniquely identifiable signs on my cars. Everything is bone stock. Nobody ever takes pictures of my cars.
  5. No backlight on Climate control/Gear buttons

I would just compare it to a Civic that's on the dealer lot. Then use your warranty to have them fix it.
  6. 2016 Touring or ILX?

It's normal for the higher compression engines to require premium fuel. All the other luxury brands are the same. Those of you who haven't driven the 2016 ILX need to try it and experience the DCT. It's the best transmission I've ever had. Even better than a true manual in that it shifts faster...
  7. Got into a car accident today.

Positive equity from a lease? Has this ever happened in the history of mankind? If it's a lease, who cares about damage. Insurance takes care of it, and you return the car at the end of the lease. Accidents are more an issue if you own the car, because you're living with it forever.
  8. Decent dealers in the SF Bay Area?

When I was trying to buy a Civic Touring sedan back in February, I emailed several dealers and got no responses back. I physically visited Capitol Honda in SJ and would not budge from MSRP. Salesman kept asking me about monthly payments after I told him I only wanted to talk total price first...
  9. 2016 Touring or ILX?

I don't get why some people get so personal about cars. It's just a car. But everyone's situation is different. Some people don't want to spend the extra money for additional features. But it's true that any car has the potential to be a lemon. At least since it's a new car, you'll likely be...
  10. 2016 Touring or ILX?

I wonder if some people are not aware that the 2016 ILX received a huge powertrain upgrade in the form of the 201hp engine and the 8sp DCT. So the powertrain is basically the same as the base TLX. This was the only reason I considered the ILX as the pre-2016 ILX's were just too slow for me.
  11. 2016 Touring or ILX?

There are several threads where people are talking about glitchy infotainment issues, such as temperature not displaying, screen freezing, etc.
  12. What little tips and tricks do you know?

Keep the gear selector in D or N and then turn off the car by pushing the start button. The accessory power will remain on. Once you shift into P, accessory power will also cut out. Note that window retains power for a few minutes even after turning off the car.
  13. Save a car! Save a life! See the SECRET errors!

What are you smoking man?
  14. 2016 Touring or ILX?

Deals can definitely be had on the ILX's now. I got my Tech Plus ASPEC (top of the line trim) for $29,500 (before TTL). At the time of purchase, the Civic Touring was brand new and thus super hot as Honda dealers were not budging from MSRP. In fact, my local Honda dealer had their "protection...
  15. Insurance when Driving your New Car off the lot in California

I think CA's minimum is 15/30, which would barely cover just the value of a Civic.
  16. Insurance when Driving your New Car off the lot in California

The amount of coverage necessary depends on the amount of assets you would be protecting. If you have little or nothing to your name, minimum coverage is good enough. Sally, some people have no coverage in this case. But if you own your home, have sizable savings, more coverage may be necessary...
  17. Insurance when Driving your New Car off the lot in California

Dealers in CA require proof of insurance before you can drive off the lot. This is required by law. If you finance/lease the car, you also need to have full coverage and I believe each lender has their own minimums, but it's probably around 50/100. If you buy the car outright, you only need to...
  18. New Owner Climate Control Question

All Honda/Acura automatic climate controls operate under the same principles. If you press "auto" it will adjust everything automatically, including turning on the A/C condenser for cold air. Note that when the ambient temp is cold outside and you're heating up the cabin with "auto" it will...
  19. Own financing , been shot down? I have :(

Credit check is not necessary to buy a car. After negotiating a price on my recently purchased ILX, I showed up the next day with a cashier's check from Chase bank and drove away with the car in about an hour (after going through the rigamarole with the F&I manager trying (and failing) to upsell...
  20. Own financing , been shot down? I have :(

I understand that your math is sound and assuming you can find a guaranteed rate of return greater than the loan's interest rate, you generate more money. My point is that there is a psychological "satisfaction" that goes with buying something outright and having pink slip in your hand. For me...
