I wouldn't change the model of car you're after solely because of availability. You lose a lot of functionality going with the sedan. Plus it's a big purchase to simply settle on (I don't even settle on which groceries I buy).

It's by far easier adding the body kit to the EX, than adding the interior EX features to the LX.
Unless you enjoy/are fine with a bare bones interior feature-wise, You may be better off with the EX. Especially if you may end up keeping the car long term (post-lease).
I've probably seen three 10th gen civics used for driving schools in my area. They're fairly cheap, good on gas and safe. Makes perfect sense to use civics.
It's not like we're talking about an exotic car being used for commercial use.

I had my first civic (2006 civic coupe DXG) for 8 years, never saw a shop aside from oil changes. Which is why I can't bring myself to buy a different make/model of vehicle.
