One annoying zonk against Tire Rack - when they strap two tires together into one shipment item, they need to stack them in a way so that the outer sides of both tires are facing each other on the inside. Got unsightly tire rash marks on the outer sidewalls from the UPS guys dragging them around...
Thanks, noted! 👍 I can go about 2 years on the CSC6 (~20k+ miles), which is my minimum time threshold (can't justify replacing tires every year hah). The PS4S was also tempting with similar performance, since it lasts 2-3 times as long, but is reportedly less direct. Will keep the DW on the list.
So, I called up Tire Rack. As for the LE's PSC2 tires, the OEM "R01" version has been discontinued (at least for the US market). The "AO Audi" variant is what he said Honda recommends for the LE going forward.
For the purchase, I went with the CSC6 again. The "generic" one is the one Honda...
Thanks for presenting an alternative. I ended up getting the CSC6 only because I really like the feel of this tire and didn't want to risk regretting any loss (even subtle) of the raw feel.
Thanks for the link - so it looks like either the LE's R01 variant is being phased out or the Tire Rack site in the USA is just out of stock I guess. If it is just out of stock temporarily, they should have just left it listed on the site with an out of stock indicator. Still confused lol. What...
And lastly, for the Continental SC6. There is just the 1 generic version on the site. Does anyone know if the ones that came with the FK8 is this same generic version, or was there a custom made one for our cars?
I remember when I first bought my AP1 S2000 in 2003, the Bridgestone Potenza S-02...
Also, not that I'll be getting the Michelin PSC2 tires, but just for fun, I looked this tire up on the site as well. There is only one option and it's the "AO Audi" version. Where is the FK8 LE version, or the optional one they use on the FL5? Or the generic? Did Honda just slap the Audi version...
For example, if you look at the 2 different Michelin PS4S tires below... the first one references "AO Audi", while the second one seems like it's the generic one. If we were going for the PS4S, I assume we should go for the second one, right?
I'm approaching 45k miles on the car and had the Akebonos on since around 5k miles. Planning to do the first brake fluid flush next week, so I took a look at the pads to see if I should replace them at the same time.
Surprisingly, there is plenty of material left. Is this typical? I was...
Generic meaning a tire model that wasn't made for a specific car (not that you couldn't use bespoke tires on another car), but can be used on any.
Like I think there was a version of the MSC2 tire that was custom made for the LE, for example. If you browse through the PS4S models on their site...
Trying to replace my stock tires with the same.
On Tire Rack's site in the link below, it seems like there is just one generic CSC6 tire model in the 245/30/20 size.
Was there a custom CSC6 tire model made for our cars and it's currently not in stock, or did our cars come with generic CSC6...
I currently have a steering wheel plate lock, brake pedal lock (clutch pedal arm is too thick for it), 2 sets of wheel locks (yea it will only but another minute and only deter someone who didn't bring along the proper socket), and parking mode dual dashcams. I'm thinking of throwing a few tags...
Gotcha thx. So conversely, if it's a samsung smarttag, do you know if samsung phones get notified automatically as well?
For the sake of argument, even if they are able to know there is a tag within range every time, I agree that having a tag hidden (the more the better) is better than nothing...
Never owned an airtag or smarttag, so not sure on the specifics of how they work.
I'm assuming the tags will give helpful directional info to the owner in locating them, but how granular is the info provided to anyone else? Just a general notification that they are "within bluetooth range" of a...
Yes, this is the way.
Except today, had a little hiccup. Apparently, our garbage infotainment has very limited storage space, and it complained about not having enough overhead to complete the update (at step #5 above). So then I plugged the flash drive back into the laptop, and manually...

CliffsNotes...
1. Format a 16GB (or larger) USB-A flash drive to FAT32 on your laptop. Does not have to be exactly 16GB, as I'm using 128GB.
2. Plug the flash drive into the car, go to map settings, update, and let it export the car's nav info to...
