With the velcro, you could try trimming it down and not having the metal completely wrapped if that makes any sense.
Took my car in today for the paint issue and they tried buffing it. It only helped a little :( So they said the regional manager would be in at the end of the month to look at it since it is harder to show in a picture now.

Seems something similar to my spot on the hood too. It's matte and doesn't go away with claying or waxing. I want to see if the dealer can do anything about it.
Make sure it's driven for awhile, let the car sit for at least 2-3 hrs if temps are above 50F. If it is below freezing you might have a shorter sit time before hearing the noise. That is what I've noticed for my car.
This is my method if you can have 2 drivers that can go. Go to the station at an off-peak time with another driver in the other car and just park on both sides of the pump and switch the nozzle to the other car quickly. I've also used the discount for 3 car fill ups :)
