We've only had a bit of light rain since they replaced the film and sensor two days ago, but so far the wipers are at least working. It's too early to come to any conclusion on how well the rain sensing works, time will tell. I don't think mine ever worked properly.
My tech did some kind of diagnostic on mine and decided to replace the film and sensor. It is scheduled to be replaced this Wednesday. We are supposed to have some rain on Thursday, I'll post the results.
Yes, that happened to me once, about a week after I had the car. I was showing the car to my brother, and I had no idea what caused it to happen. Although I think I had also opened and closed the trunk right before it happened.
Yes, LKAS must be able to 'see' the lane markers, and rain will reduce visibility. But it's not fair to say it "doesn't seem to work in the rain". In my experience, it's worked just was well in the rain (heavy rain I might add), than no rain.
The reason LED bulbs are cool to the touch is because they don't produce infrared heat, like traditional incandescent bulbs. But they do produce heat in the process of generating light. Typically this heat is dissipated with heatsinks incorporated in the design of the LED fixture. Small xmas...
This sums up pretty well how I feel about Honda Sensing in the Civic. If you foolishly think of it as a 'self-driving' car are going to end up causing an accident.
I've found the auto rain sensing wipers to work ok. And I've had plenty of opportunity to use them in rainy Oregon. They don't seem to work much better than intermittent wipers though. And sometimes they do wipe to frequently.
The bluetooth audio choppiness is annoying. I wasn't planning on plugging in for my ~30 min. commute, but I might start doing that. My '13 Civic handled bluetooth audio perfectly, although it seemed a little slower to connect.
From the manual, page 451:
"If you pull up and hold the electric parking brake switch while
driving, the brakes on all four wheels are applied by the VSA
system until the vehicle come to a stop. The electric parking
brake then applies, and the switch should be released."
