  1. 2017 Civic Type R window sticker reveals $33,900 MSRP!

Interesting the motor is USA sourced and trans is Japan sourced. The 1.5t manuals in lx,ex,sport are all Thailand/India sourced engine/trans. This sticker would indicate Honda will be using multiple countries for engine/trans depending on build. Have to assume the 2.0t USA/Japan is superior? I...
  2. The "Who regrets their purchase!" Thread

Interesting as I watched all your vids when looking at Mazda vs Honda and very positive feedback on the civic it seems. I liked the 2.5 mazda na engine in manual quite a bit, both mazda6 and mazda3 hatch with this combo. If the mazda dealer had negotiated a bit more on the hatch it would have...
  3. Need help beating an Accord 15 Sports Edition!

On test drives recently the 2.4na accord 6mt was much faster off the start vs the 2.0na civic 6mt. For manual probably not close but if cvt, who knows. Drove a cvt accord as well and not the same at all vs the 6mt, the cvt was sluggish, so that could be to your advantage if the accord is cvt.
  4. New 2017 Civic sedan EX actual OTD

2017 lx 6MT, list 23330. I also negotiated for the sole civic hatch 6MT in the state but best I could get that was 19950, list 20,500. As mentioned in another thread that was when I realized my hatch dream was over!. The accord lx manual is a very nice car and no regrets (wife loves it and she...
  5. Need help with email notifications

Did you go under preferences and de-select the option "and receive email notification..blah". This option and the auto watch above it are what seem to generate the most email.
  6. New 2017 Civic sedan EX actual OTD

It is all about patience and just how badly you want/need the car. If you have the patience just wait, the dealers will most definitely follow up even though they claim they cannot go lower. I know it is opposite of most buyers these days, but I find going into the dealer is where the best deals...
  7. New 2017 Civic sedan EX actual OTD

The sales manager always has a sob story just smile, hold your ground and think of the next poor soul they screw over to make it up. They can, and do, sell well under invoice when necessary. Unfortunately the 10th gen civic is pretty hot so they are not discounting them at loss sales (generally...
  8. Need help with email notifications

Did you deselect the reply option for watched threads (separate from reply email option)? Check path profile-->alert preferences-->uncheck replies to watch threads, also remove persistent alerts and any other option listed (I unchecked them all). You must still be watching some, check under your...
  9. Help me decide EX EX-T sedan or LX Accord

manual accord lx (cheapest model) with delivery lists for 23330+-. They are really dealing on accords right now, I suspect they will get cheaper as summer rolls around. Combined with .9 honda financing (no loan charges, fees, etc) it made for a compelling deal. You can also deal on CVTs right...
  10. Help me decide EX EX-T sedan or LX Accord

Picked up the accord lx 6mt for 19.5k price if that helps. Nobody in New England would beat that price on civic 1.5t manuals, simply not around so they are not coming off much (19.9k was best I could do). CVTs are different market, plenty of those in all trims, both models. My casual assessment...
  11. CR crappy rating

Back when CR was a pure mag rag it was held in pretty good esteem. The "tubes" seemed to dilute their standing over time and cannot remember last time I read something by them that seemed useful. I find looking around forums' problems or maintenance sections to be good indicators of build...
  12. notchy shifter?

That was my experience on the 2017, take it easy and it shifts fine, bang it a little hard and pretty clicky/notchy. Granted all tests were new cars so also thought it might break it. But when I hard/fast shift the accord it is a different shifter all together.
  13. notchy shifter?

Never drove a 2016 but the 2017 civic manual shifter in the sedan 2.0na and hatch 1.5t is notchy and looks to be the same. A lot does depend on how you shift it though. But not the same shifter as in the accord, that is for sure.
  14. No oil in the engine, any damage?

Dealers are quite sensitive to poor rankings like google reviews. Put a one star review on there for this dealer with detailed images of their shoddy work as well as the denial to make it right. Make it brief but have evidence. It will be noticed.
  15. No oil in the engine, any damage?

Do you have a mechanic you trust or diy oil changes? You or a mechanic should change the oil again and look for any metal shavings in oil or filter. This would indicate definitive damage. Document everything, send it via certified letter and follow up with an attorney if necessary.
  16. No oil in the engine, any damage?

I would say the engine is most definitely damaged. Knocking in engines with low oil is almost always bad news. I agree about the registered letter to dealer and Honda Canada with all the documentation. Get a sworn statement from tow driver if possible and include in letter. This will be the...
  17. No oil in the engine, any damage?

Have you driven it again? That noise was definitely rods knocking I would say. Generally the engine is damaged/ruined if you hear knocking but who knows. You should be able to mildly rev it and hear the knocking. If so I would only accept a new engine. Puzzling you did not see oil leaking...
  18. Buzzing/static sound

I know you said electrical buzz but heat shields will often make such a noise when loose and usually paired with accel/decel at certain rpms. On subarus this is very common due to placement of shield but not sure on the civic. When cooled get under there and see if you can move the shields at all.
  19. 2017 Civic Hatchback vs 2017 Accord

Yeah I know. I really only considered manuals as I love driving them and do not live in a heavy urban area so the manual makes even a family sedan a pleasure to drive (to me). The Japanese transmission/shifter they use in the accord seems much better quality. The subaru 5MT feels a bit like...
  20. 2017 Civic Hatchback vs 2017 Accord

Ended up buying the lx accord 6MT. I did really like the civic hatch 6MT (also lx) but the fact I paid less for the accord than what I could get the civic for was the deal sealer. Having driven the accord for a week I do very much like the 2.4NA on the 6MT. It has great power for 4 cylinder and...
