How many miles does the car have? What does your maintenance history look like? Just curious when it comes time for my own head gasket replacement what the symptoms would look like.
To set or disengage the parking brake, you need the brake pedal depressed; just remember to take your foot off and let it come back up after setting or disengaging the parking brake. This helps flush brake fluid that could be in the parking brake system.
When I do my transmission oil changes I just eyeball it. Ramps on the front wheels, jack stands on the rear tire lift points, floor jack on the trunk lift point. Raise the car until I can see the side skirts parallel with the ground. Drain bolt drained easily with no worries. No need to get too...
I bought these back in 2019 and didn't see any instructions on how to put them on... So I chucked them in the corner of my garage LOL. Three years and a whole new Honda Civic later, I found them again, and now that I'm getting into car stuff and car culture and car meets, I decided to put them...
Hey OP, hope you got the screw out! I would have unscrewed the three bolts, then try to use needle nose pliers to grab onto the bolt and take it off hm.
I remember I lost one of those bolts deep in my engine bay when I first got my first Civic. I replaced it with an equivalent from Home Depot...
While idling for long periods and not warming up your engine aren't good, I would hope that as long as you change your oil frequently enough, probably every 2 to 3 thousand miles under these conditions, it should be okay.
I hope you find a stable shelter soon. I can nap in my Civic no problem...
Hmm now that you mention it, it does look pretty overfilled, especially with how thick the oil layer is and it going up the metal part of the dipstick.
Oh well, I'm sure OP's car is fine, right?
I changed mine super early, at like 25k miles. I remember the owners manual saying you can do that if you drive in harsh terrain and stuff, but I honestly just wanted to do it to see what it's like. It was pretty easy actually!
I guess that's what happened. Perhaps I had a door open when installing the battery terminal back on and because of that, it blew the fuse. Now I know for next time if there ever is a next time. My previous LEDs lasted me at least a year and a half, and perhaps will last even longer since I sold...
So I just did this on my new civic (in my profile pic) and I ended up blowing the fuse for the interior lights in my car haha! Thankfully Honda provides us a 10 amp fuse in the fuse box, but that was pretty silly. I guess that's not the right thing to do then.
On another note, there are some...
I remember for my first oil change I did myself I tried unplugging the fuel ignition fuse and when I did that I got a warning on my dashboard and the car wouldn't even start or crank without that fuse installed. I guess the car is pretty smart to know that.
Thanks for all the help guys! I used Kelly Blue Book to get a price estimate as to what my car would be worth, and Carmax gave me a great price in the upper part of that estimate range. I was quite happy, so I sold it to them. In regards to my mods, even my oil catch can, they didn't care at...
Here's my report! And that's the last time I'll be changing the oil in this car since I will be selling this current car and getting a new one. What a good run I had in maintaining the engine for the last three and a half years and 36k miles. Woohoo.
Definitely this! The job isn't too difficult, just tedious really. Also, tires are heavy (LOL). I have a picture of when I did my brake fluid change I think; or maybe that was my brake change in general. Hmm. Maybe.
Very true, at least car manufacturing is an industry where even if things don't last as long as they used to, the product is a lot safer for the consumer to use. Besides, and this is speculation but I'd love to see actual data on this, I would argue most consumers get a new car after 5 to 10...
