  1. Maintenance Minder vs. Time Period

for those who drive low miles, is it wise to change oil / perform maintenance every 6 months or so - or just go on with life and listen for the MM to pop up? i feel like I could probably go a full year without scheduled maintenance if I just followed mileage.
  2. Extended warranty for 2016-2018 Turbo/drivetrain due to oil dillution?

So glad I bought this cheap piece of shit for its reliability I’ll be looking to trade in for down payment on an actually nice car
  3. 2016-2018 Software Update, Warranty Extension & Climate Control Replacement

I just paid $40 total for the recall updates and entire B1 maintenance Car definitely “warms up” a lot faster ... although it’s only been a day
  4. Fuel/Oil Dilution Issue Overblown ?

Got a letter for the update/recall Perfect timing as I’m due B1 maintenance... I’ll report any noticeable differences
  5. Another "oil dilution" tsb thread.

Yeah can’t believe those jerks, caring about the air and water we consume ...
  6. This is the worst car I have ever bought.

More tech = more issues All I have is Bluetooth connectivity
  7. B maintenance cost

Yeah; but at least you’d have this paperwork to back up warranty ... my only reason for going to the dealer this time around I do have a trusted local mechanic for oil/filters/tire rotation ... B seemed a little more complicated when I initially read the manual
  8. B maintenance cost

So B maintenance isn’t all that complex? I remember seeing in the manual that the list of items to “check” was rather extensive, could be mistaken though. My dealership has a “B Maintenance” option to select right in their site for around $100
  9. B maintenance cost

how much should b maintenance cost at a dealership? Can’t decide whether to go dealer or mechanic
  10. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

You’ll be pretty shocked how much of a difference 2% vs .08% adds up over time.
  11. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

My go-to is pointing out to my coworkers how much they waste on breakfast/Starbucks/lunch every day ... it’s always fun to see there face when I present the “You’re spending AT LEAST $6,000 a year ...” closing line. “I don’t have time to make coffee at home” ... but they magically have time to...
  12. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

Glad to hear! Your previous post sounded less than rosey on the outlook
  13. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

there is a fine line to saving/investing, hence why in my initial post I included the "not eating cereal and spaghetti 7x a week without leaving the house in order to pay for a car" comment. Life is to be lived, for sure. It's actually the little things daily/weekly that add up to be...
  14. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

    1. Yes, I earn between 2-3% on my money. 2. No investment is guaranteed to outperform that loan over the duration of the loan (equity volatility, which most people think they have the stomach for until things drops 10+% ... look no further than December 2018) 3. If you're not talking about...
  15. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

That 2-3% loan eats into investment returns, on top of the fact that taking out a loan on a more expensive depreciating asset (Type R) is not wiser than paying off a Hatch Sport. Cars are liabilities, not assets. I prefer owing nothing, paying 0 interest, and investing what I’d otherwise be...
  16. Type R Owners, How much do you make? Financial advisers chime in.

Can you “afford” it? Loaded question ... 1. Are you maxing out your 401K? (19K) 2. Are you maxing out your IRA? (6K) - if you are saving/investing at least 25K/year, continue reading. If not, no you can’t afford your “kewl car” and you should stop letting peer pressure bother you. You’re an...
  17. Farewell Civic, Hello Tesla

I’d feel better about a Tesla if I didn’t see the company and it’s CEO continuously in negative headlines ... love what they are doing, probably going to get 1 after my current warranty is up (3.5 years). I love my Hatch Sport, no rush
  18. Can’t decide between an Si or Type R

Awwww, I struck a nerve ... 1. I never said my CVT was “world class”. Did say it’s about half the price, much more practical, looks similar, and is still fun to drive. It is. 2. Did say you won’t truly be able to consistently max out the performance as a daily driver, so a waste of money as...
  19. Can’t decide between an Si or Type R

Buy the Si, invest the difference, buy a real sports car (Porsche 718/911, GTR) later
