  1. How often do you see the CTR?

I saw one today, funnily enough. I never see them when I'm in mine, though, only if I'm in my work truck or my wife's car. Unless I'm seeing them "on purpose," at a Type R meet up or autocross where I know one will be racing. Probably once every month, if that. Way less often than Alfa Romeo...
  2. Do any of you long time "Honda Vtec" lovers miss the old screamer engines?

It's not about how loud they sound, it's how good they sound. When (if) my EK goes out of OBDII emissions testing, it's getting ITBs. Not because it will be loud, but because it will have that beautiful sound. There's nothing like the tone of a high revving, uncorked engine. Turbos will...
  3. What did you do to your Type R today?

I've been saying pretty much since the second season that I think it was McLaren's fault. Boullier's size zero surely had big packaging implications on the engine, I would bet they led to issues. The fact that McLaren has continued to have trouble after breaking up with Honda, and was slower...
  4. Sequential gearbox on the Type R.

I can man up enough to say I am not a good enough driver to make the difference between a sequential transmission and manual transmission worth it. $200,000+ cars like Porsches and Ferraris or whatvewh can absorb the cost of such transmissions without blowing up their price point. It's a little...
  5. Do any of you long time "Honda Vtec" lovers miss the old screamer engines?

I'd miss it if I didn't have my B18C swapped EK in the garage. I absolutely love the sounds it makes and the way power comes on after about 6000rpm, it's what made me fall in love with Honda back in the '90s. It's an incredible way to build engines, but as we know it stopped being competitive...
  6. Will these wheels fit the CTR? Option Lab Formula

If you go to Evasive or JHP USA they will have listings for wheels that fit the Type R. Just search those specs and you'll come up with a good idea of what will fit. You'll need to know the bolt pattern, which is 5x120, diameter you want, and an acceptable range of offsets for whatever width...
  7. What did you do to your Type R today?

Small stuff compared to y'all folk, but I got a new plate and I replaced the crappy license plate bolts with Downstar fender hardware to make them look a lot nicer.
  8. *Warning* The clear side markers for the regular Civic don't fit the Type R

https://www.civicx.com/threads/edm-jdm-side-marker-install.20585/page-2#post-488540 I don't know where the lenses this thread are about come from? I thought they were talking about these. Also, your thread wasn't a few posts down at the time of my post - but whatever. UCF's championship is...
  9. EDM/JDM Side Marker Install

I see where the confusion in the other thread comes from now, SpooRk. I thought these were "The clear side markers for the regular Civic" from the thread's title. Derp on me. At this point I don't know wtf that thread is talking about? I can confirm those $50 ones fit absolutely perfectly...
  10. Gas overflow and first gear lockout

As far as the trans, didn't someone have a similar issue recently and find like, an acorn or a stick sitting on top of the transmission and physically blocking the linkage from moving into first?
  11. Gas overflow and first gear lockout

Are you having this gas issue at one pump or at different pumps? It sounds, at first, more like the pump isn't shutting off properly. It could also be an issue with the evap system not venting the air properly so the nozzle doesn't detect the increased air pressure and shut off automatically.
  12. *Warning* The clear side markers for the regular Civic don't fit the Type R

What on earth do I have on my car, then? How did I manage to do it, in like 20 minutes? I can't be bothered to look for your particular "write up" but from what I can tell, people are putting the socket in backward so it interferes with the fender and the harness doesn't reach. I bet you...
  13. Civic Type R Diecast - Honda licensed merchandise

My dealer had them in stock. No gift, but I brought them home together. And it's pretty decent. As a hobby modeler, I can be a bit finicky, but at under $40 for a prefinished car, it's quite good. I thought it was resin like the smaller TSM offering, but I just pulled it out and tapped on it...
  14. CTR All Wheel Drive Testing - Motor Trend

Neat idea, I guess? The future has to start somewhere in the present. But it seems like a lot of whiz-bang to just save half the time you wast shifting gears. Also, there is no way that set up won't grenade while cornering hard. Let's see what happens in 10, maybe 5, years.
  15. Hatch Issues?

We always had to replace the trunk springs or hatch struts when installing trunk spoilers on new cars at the dealer, it's common. I'm sure this has always been the case with accessory spoilers, it just may not be listed where you saw it. They want the accessory to be as easy for the customer...
  16. *Warning* The clear side markers for the regular Civic don't fit the Type R

This thread is exactly the problem with internet forums/internet information. I have the factory clear lights. I bought them from eBay, legit Honda parts for a great price, from a guy in the Philippines or some place, and it took forever for them to arrive (but I didn't mind, I got them on...
  17. If Honda Actually an AWD 2019 CTR, Would You Pay Extra for It?

I suspect you're thinking a "halo" car. If you're trying to say the Civic is just the Civic, and a relative newcomer to the R badge, then the RA272 is a heritage car and the NSX (didn't exist until 1992) is still a street car.
  18. CTR Owners - Please answer honestly

I get the vibe that it's referring to someone who wants to cry about how modern Hondas are junk and we should all go buy KIA Fortes :dunno:
  19. Interesting Experience This Week

My wife has warmed to it over the last few months, I think she mostly likes how happy it makes me. She also wants to re-learn driving a manual and refuses to do it in my other car. Your experience at the BMW dealer would have been surprising (to me) last year, but I think this car is really...
  20. Anyone with Carbon Fiber Fender Vents?

The main difference is that the Seibon part replaces the entire part, and is carbon on all surfaces. The PimpMyRide part slips into the vent and only covers the part of the factory vent that is on the same plane as the door. The rest of the factory vent is exposed and plastic. Also, FWIW...
