Honda addresses a 7 speed w/paddle shifters right in my factory manual.

This is why the Hatch Si isn't happening. This touring Sport model has basically ALL the visual appointments the Si will get. Red gauges, carbon fiber look on the dash, the same 18" wheels, the same front bumper we've seen on the Si spy shots, center mounted exhaust, etc. The sport models are as close to an Si hatch as you'll get (for the time being). Expect all these same visual appointments to be on the sedan/coupe Si models however as well.

I also feel that the fact the sport hatch models come in automatics (or manual if you get the base) even with the boosted hp and torque lends some tangibility that we might end up seeing an automatic option on the future Si models as well. (possibly not on the 2017s but in the next year or two as an addition to the lineup).
Man, I see the same info and read it totally differently. This is some strong evidence for a hatch Si if you ask me.

Honda has made all of the investment required to release a hatch Si, and intentionally carved an Si-sized hole in the lineup - apart from obscure marketing rationale I can't comprehend, why would they not release an Si hatch?

Sport is the Si-lite - all the looks, none of the bite. Everyone else (including Acura) does this. Si is the EX with a juiced up motor and the looks. Honda has a big box of Legos and is showing us some of the Si pieces before they go for the full Monty.

I also predict we'll see a sedan Sport (but not a coupe) for these same reasons. Why not slap the racy clothes on a lower spec model and recoup more of that tooling investment?

Also - I think that the fact you can get the sport trim with the CVT is more evidence that a) the Si hatch is coming, and b) it will not have an automatic.

My guess is that the Sport will just have the exhaust and power bump, alloys (maybe 17" instead of 18"?), and maybe the paddle shifters for the CVT. The base model radio in the LX already has bluetooth and backup cam. If you want sunroof, leather, touchscreen and driver aids, you'll need to move to EX, but you'll lose the exhaust and extra power. If you want all of it as well as LED headlights, you'll need to get the Sport touring.
You'll also loose the 6MT.

Ah yah, about 3 pages back!

Really leaning towards the Sport Touring in MSM! Or WOP, or......LSM
I am really leaning towards the HB over the sedan at the moment
And it will definetly either be a 2017 sedan Touring or HB Sport Touring!

Got bored, so I cleaned up that front shot posted above and added a red front emblem Ă  la type-r. Not gonna try cleaning up those seats with a clone brush. Just getting most of the creases out of the vinyl wrapped hood was enough for a quick chop:

I know it most likely won't be the case, but imagine if Honda made the Si coupe be the same as the Sport hatch, with a centre-mounted sports exhaust with 180hp, with the f/r bumper from the hatch and called it the Si? It'd be such a slap to the face, I sure hope this isn't the case.

The spy shots would suggest this is an entirely different trim altogether. Different bolstered seats with 7" touchscreen and 6MT, and a uniquely positioned Sport button. Also, the 2017 catalogue doesn't list a Sport trim for the coupe or sedan, at least that we're aware of. Clearly something that is still under development (or recently completed).

As mentioned in another thread, the long pole in the tent seems to be the unique powertrain.

I'm not 100% sure but don't HFP wheels have a sticker or "HFP" writings on the wheel?
Good point. I'm just astonished that a non-Si is going to come with 18's from the dealer!
