Hi guys ,i'm Nick from Belgium and i own a 2018 Civic Sedan 1.5T (FC1).
(No it's not a SI ,and yes the chassis is also FC1 in europe)
At the moment i only have a few mods done to the car but i plan to do some minor mods to improve the whole suspension and engine.

Mods so far are :
- PRL intake tube With Sprint Filter Air filter
- Front aftermarket grill
- Oem Type-R Red badges
- N-XTC Glass coated the car
- Rear windows tinted 5%

I also have some new wheels which have some slight curb damage and need to be powdercoated again.
These are the Prodrive GC010E Forged wheels by Rays 18x8.5 ET34.

And i also allready have these parts ready to go
- Si Shifter
- Si Springs
- Si Airbox
- Type-R exhaust which will be modified to fit the sedan.

I always owned a 98 civic hatch before ,which had full hardrace suspension bushings everywhere ,koni yellow shocks, spoon springs, itr steering rack ,short trans ,...It was a blast to drive that car but it had its age and my daugther being born back then made me move into another car.

I'm a welder and a DIY kinda guy ,and you can also see what i'm doing on my facebook page "H.N Innovations".

To explain it a bit more the type R has a oem air duct that takes air from the front of the grill opening and guides it towards the plastic shroud.
The 1.5T chassis is a bit different and has less room for that air duct .I will most likely also modify the front support bar a bit since it blocks a lot of air .The Sprint filter carbon airbox for the FK8 is what inspired me for the air scoop .

So i've been working on the air scoop/Air duct .
The foam i used before had a high density but was very soft.
After skimming it with a thin layer of woven glass fibre ,it ended up being destroyed and warped.
So needed to start over again i decided to now use a better foam .Ordered a block of hard pu foam and some other coatings for mold making.

3th patern now also hopefully the last one.
Started with a layer of bondo to fill in the tiny holes of the foam.
After that layed on several coats of "patern coat".
I had a spare plastic shroud allready so i used this to mount the patern on and use it as the mold.

I made a nice radius with plasticine between the patern and the plastic shroud.
And now time for the Gel coat to go on,after that the mold making putty will go on.

Finished the molds and made a first testpiece out of glass fiber.
This has several blemishes (trapped dirt in it) and some air pockets so it isn"t perfect at all.
But that's why i tried it first in glass fiber.I'm going to trim the piece and see how it fits on the car.

Fitment is pretty damn good :spaz:

Now i still need to make the lower piece (air duct) and a little add on piece for the top one.
I also got a spare plastic shroud which will be cut out to the shape of the air scoop.
If all parts fit like this then i'm going to make another one out of carbon fiber.

How's Sprint drop in air filter performance? I'm considering to get it but the price here is higher vs. K & N.

Quality is very good ,the price is indeed a bit higher then k&n but imo it's worth it .
Performance wise i can't really be sure ,need to go on a dyno and test it .My guess it's better then k&n .
Sprint filter is now also supplying Spoon with their filters.

Got the lower piece done .Still have to make a little add on piece for the upper 'hood scoop'.
The lower piece also has/needs little tabs so it can sit inside the grill opening. Some broke off because the test piece only had 3 layers of fiberglass.I have a idea to fix this and make it stronger.
I actually needed to test this first and see how iat temperatures react ,but got exited and allready ordered some carbon fiber :spaz: .

Well the first carbon piece has been made.Unfortunatly not perfect but i'll change a few things to get that solved in the future.I also found out the front support beam which blocks most of the air coming in is different between Sedan/coupe and the hatches. The hatch support beam has a extra lip with 2 holes right where the airduct sits. There's also a big price difference between the 2 the hatch ones are around $90 where as the sedan/coupe ones are around $30 .
I'm looking for a used one local and i might buy a hatch one and see if it also fits the sedan which i think it does.
The hatch one does not fit with the current lower airduct as it has the extra lip on it.
Why does the hatch one has that extra lip?Don't know yet ,but i'm thinking it's something from the Type R as the part number uses TGG and that's mostly used on type R parts.
I cannot find any parts that might go into those holes.

As for the part that blocks air i think the best option here would be to drill holes in it .
For airflow it is better to completely remove it ,but the support beam would have a weak spot there and might bend over time.
