Took my car to check if the wheels are still balanced and the shop found the (2) rims on the drivers side are bent.

This was the side I inadvertently went off the track and into the dirt @95mph on my last track outing. Doh!

Such a bummer. Ordered a replacement set from System Motorsports. Same exact rims, will replace the bad ones and leave (2) spares. Hopefully they will arrive by July.

Might have to look into cheaper rims to take to the track :(
If you can, stick with forged wheels. You might have had a different result on cast wheels, after a 95 MPH off.

Followup on the light output of the Coplus/Morimoto/OLM..

Here’s an interesting comparison shot. The Si’s headlight output did seem a bit brighter... Unsure if the Si and Type R headlights are identical. Would think they are...

The weird thing is I’ve notived the Coplus beam appears to travel further despite being dimmer.
Look at all that extra light, it's a wonder you city folks even need to use the headlights! ?

I'm FINALLY getting to install mine, after I finish getting everything back together. Hit a few snags (see my other thread) but hopefully to at least have it together this weekend. I have some really good control shots with fixed exposure, so I'll take some with the new setup and post them hopefully soon.

Car looks great btw. Love the look of the new grill and I think the banner fits nicely on the car.

American Tire Depot is currently running a buy 3 get 1 free promo which is a pretty smoking deal. Not sure when it ends.

The RE71R’s are wearing quickly and have (2) more track events set up 5/17 and 5/22 so decided to grab an extra set.

Gotta love the hatchback storage space in the Type R. There’s probably room in there for (2) sets ;)

Saw on the FB Type R track group that Acuity just released this reverse flow silicone radiator hose that results in a 4.5 degree F decrease in radiator temps when paired with additional cooling mods.

Currently on sale for $139 free shipping so placed an order.

4.5F may not seem like a lot, but every little bit will help at the track.

Took my car to a reputable wheel repair shop called Tru-Wheels in North Hollywood recommended by Boosted180sx on the slim chance they could repair the rims.

Confirmed forged one piece Rays/Volks are unrepairable (safely) once bent. Maybe ok for regular street driving, but would be super dicey at the track.

Buying the new set still hurts, but not as much, now that it’s confirmed it was the correct route to proceed ;)

Sorry to hear you have two bent wheels. Glad your thinking about safety though Tom.

Sorry Hermano, got plans for em! These puppies will likely to become end tables for the man cave...Maybe similar to these, so it won’t be a total loss, haha

ill take a bent one so i can use it as my hose reel.

Have a couple track days scheduled for 5/17/20 and 5/22/20 so have been prepping the car to make sure all is in good working order. Performed a tire inspection and compared the old to the new.

Have had these RE71R’s for about 4.5 months with (2) track days. Love the tires and how they perform, but they wear really fast.

Pretty cool to see them side by side... About 1/8” has been worn from the treads.

The indicators have been reached and are beginning to wear away.

Shared these photos on the FB Type Track group and they say these are probably good for (1) more track session and can be run down to the cords to get my money’s worth out of them.

Will adjust my driving to take into account The reduced grip, but they still feel good :)

Finally had some time to install the black chrome H emblem, which requires the bumper to be removed to do so.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R CAC24784-EB16-4F3D-904C-C3180C672370

The emblem is cheap feeling and doesn’t have an adhesive backing. It’s held with just (2) plastic prongs that insert into the (2) holes on the J’s badge holder. Slightly enlarged and cleaned the holes using the correct size drill bit to get it to fit.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 4C8E0FAC-AEB4-405B-A8CD-0044FB7C9B56

These spring washers are then pressed into the prongs to hold the emblem in place. They are difficult to install by hand, so used a 7mm nut driver to firmly push them on. Did this over a towel so not to scratch anything.

Black chrome H is installed. In hindsight, probably should have just removed it altogether until after my upcoming 5/17 and 5/22 track days. The badge holder blocks 20% of the airflow, heh.

Messed around with the Type R grill emblem but there wasn’t a way to securely attach it. Still it provided some ideas on how to accomplish it in the future. Thinking to mount onto a thin metal or plastic plate, then sandwich onto the grill with a 2nd plate and secure with bolts/nuts.

All back together. Looks ok, but it’s a little hard to see. Contemplating trying a black/silver H emblem when they are back in stock.

Thanks for the kind words Mike! Btw saw your car in the SGP official pix thread and it looks like you resolved your turbo linkage issue. Well done sir and your car is looking like ?! Looking forward to seeing more when you get them posted

It rarely gets dark here in SoCal. Lots of city lights, cars and trucks. Speaking of which, have noticed freeways are much more crowded, compared to the first weeks of the lockdown. Starting to see traffic again.

Am happy with how the J’s Racing grill has turned out looks wise, just not the price tag. It will probably be close to $1,500 once PFF and ceramic is applied on top of the paint and clearcoat, which is nuts. Had I known the total cost of doing exterior mods going in, may gave it a pause. ?

Went back and forth on the J’s banner, but decided against it. It’s not like they sponsored or gifted their stuff, so no need to provide free advertising on the street. However I do like their logo and it’s tempting :)

Besides, having the word “Racing” on the windshield is just asking for the PoPo to write me a ticket. ?

Look at all that extra light, it's a wonder you city folks even need to use the headlights! ?

I'm FINALLY getting to install mine, after I finish getting everything back together. Hit a few snags (see my other thread) but hopefully to at least have it together this weekend. Car looks great btw. Love the look of the new grill and I think the banner fits nicely on the car.

Yeah I guess I was just overthinking the turbo issue. I ended up just tightening it down and the actuator seemed to pull out easily to the correct length. No codes on the short trip to the detailer, so hopefully all is well. Scheduled to start etuning in about a week.
