That heat shield rattles quite a lot in my car on low rpms so it's gone lol

Gah!

What intake were you using it with?

AF Dynamic
It also comes with a splash shield to protect the bottom of the intake from big puddle of water.

Hey salmon, been watching your thread and I'm most interested in your TD03 project. I know you are still under development, but how does it feel so far? Would you call your butt dyno gains substantial? :)
Care to share some logs at some point? I'd love to see what this baby flows...
Thanks and keep up the awesome work on your silver arrow!

That heat shield intrigues me a lot, especially since my BMS is on the way (shipping delays of course). Will be keeping an eye on your temp updates!
The good. It doesn't rattle. The bad. It doesn't really seem to do much of anything but look shiny. Maybe a 2-3°f difference... maybe... Granted, I wasn't expecting much more than that.

I'm going to continue to monitor to see, especially as the summer heat kicks in

Currently on second revision from first tuner. No lag or loss in low-end torque that I can notice compared to TSP stage 1 map 3. Quick and fun so far

I'm going look at going in a different direction tuning wise this week. I'll have more information as it comes ?

Hey salmon, also interested in your mhi turbo. Did you change your oil for it? I know it suggests 10w40 for it but was wondering what oil you have been using for it because 10w40 is thick.

I've been on 0w-20 so far. I'm getting an oil change in the next couple weeks and going with 0w-30. No issues yet ?

That's good news, how many miles have you had on it? You have a custom tune right?

About 2k miles so far.

Yes. First custom by a local shop, then by Drob

That's awesome, it's been trouble free? Do you drive really hard?
I do occasional 60 pulls on the highway and on ramp pulls. Nothing as hard as tracking

I'm going to be checking my oil levels after this oil change after what happened to @awsomsauce

I'm happy with it though. I'm just waiting for the stock clutch to tap out ?

Yeah, same. Im paranoid of pushing the car too hard but like to have the power on tap lol.

I saw that post, it sounded like his oil was overfilled or something. I can't seem to get a definitive answer on this because not a lot of people upgraded to the MHI td03 it seems, looking forward to your results. Do your datalogs look normal?

Trims are dialed in. 25lbs of boost on tap in 3rd and 4th. I'm loving it so far

Getting a race MAF and maybe TIP so that oughta open it up some more

Installed

I'll get some temps in the next day or two and see if it does anything other than look shiny

That's it for now

Sorry so pic heavy

Still waiting on next tune revision for MHI TD03

More to come!
Very nice build bro just gave a read through

Curious how were temps?? Did it help with heat soak at all?

Thanks!

The heat shield actually raised my temps by about 5' in my current setup. I think it blocks airflow. The lower stock air box is still in place, and it already seems to provide good heat shielding.

When I get my TIP installed, I'm going to try it again from underneath. I had some things come in for a fun intake project. Hopefully I'll have it installed in December ;)

With the new intake setup, a new tune was needed. DATALOG TIME!!!

If only it were that simple...

Yeah... not a happy clutch

After some shopping around and looking at the experiences of others here, I ended up with the Exedy stage 2 clutch and lightweight flywheel. It's a 3 puck unsprung setup. The flywheel comes in at 19.3 lbs

So far, I like the feel. I think I need to adjust the engagement height a tad. It's pretty close to the top right now. I feel like I'm going to stall every time I try to take off ?

I probably just need to learn to drive

Once break in is complete, I'll be back on datalogs to finalize the tune. Once that's done, it'll be dyno time. Time to see what the TD03 does when it can actually breath. Speaking of breathing, I have some forced air things I'm going to try to get installed... Hint: it involves the rest of the cobra intake and a few other bobs and bits

More to come...
