I'm right at 5k miles, thinking I may try and squeeze another 2k or so before switching to Michelin Pilot Sports

Thanks

I've seen people get 2k out of them, and I've seen people get 20k+.

Depends on how you drive them and the wear that occurs.

My OEM tires have never been tracked, so at 5K they are still at 70% tread wear remaining.

DD, 12K so far, no track or funny business, I checked about two weeks ago and pretty sure I saw 5/32 left.

I'm at 35000km (summer and winter tires) now and I can get 2000km more but that is all. The limit in Sweden is 1.6mm for summer tires (3mm for winter). I ride my motorcycles in summers so there are more "winter" km than summer.
So....15000km with OE tires. That is 9300 miles.

if you drive "normally" for the most part you can get over 20k miles. I changed mine out at around 23k for another set of Conti take-offs from other owners. With my driving style take-off contis are a great value and they have high levels of grip. Paid probably $700ish all said and done for the second set. Planning on another 20k with these.

700$ seems awfully expensive for second-hand, no warranty, used tires. What do the tires cost new?

Rest assured all tires were at 8/32 or above, 9/32 being new. These were from people who immediately switched to 35 series or all seasons.

The tires are just over $300 on tire rack each and that does not include installation and tax. $700 including installation was not a bad deal at all. And they beat the pants off of budget summer tires.

You’re right. I’m skewed because Im familiar with Si spec pricing. High performance vs sporty price of maintenance is a huge difference and a serious thing to consider when looking at the price of ownership.

I could probably afford monthly payments on a Type R, but I would not be able to afford to maintain it as a daily.

Man, somethin is wrong here. I drive normal, mostly to the work and back, I live outside a very small city but do not work here so I take the motorway like 10km and 10km more on secondary roads. I drive at the legaly speeds or a bit over(low speed limits in Sweden), never did a 0-100, never on the track, seldom more than me in the car. No hor summers here. Yes, I sometimes accelerate hard and, sometimes get wheel spin. I rotate the wheels and check the tire pressure regulary. My car was stock until two months ago.
All this and I got 10000 miles out of my tires. Sure, one can get 20-30% more. Maby my grand father would get 50-60% more ....but 130% more than I got? C'man....

Lol dunno what to tell ya. Have your alignment checked?

I rarely ever drive my car as such to get wheelspin. I think the only time I did was trying to launch at autocross (only one autox event on the set). In the canyons I also drive well below the limit.

I can drive fast on occasion but again, no where near the limits of the tire. Mainly rolling straight line pulls when it's open.
