I’m getting a new intercooler and want the plate to be out of the way as it’s kinda blocking the oem intercooler already. Anyone have any ideas on where I can move it to?

I know Perrin sell one for the Si and Type R. I’m sure it’ll work on the hatch as well since the Si and hatch have nearly identical bumpers. Requires some cutting and drilling. Although I’d just remove the license plate and forget about it. Been running with no front plates since the day I got the car lol (live in Los Angeles, CA)

I took mine off completely tbh I live in LA cops always roll past me without pulling me over but I think it’s based on your luck. The 3 drilled holes is the only thing that bugs me rn

Agreed, I bought some plugs to cover the holes and painted then to match. It’s a little better, just wish the dealer had listened when I said not to put the front license plate lol.

I bought a half bracket and mounted it on the passenger side vent holes with some nuts and bolts from home depot. The police don't seem to really mind plateless cars but I'd rather not give them another reason to pull me over since my car is pretty loud already.
Yeah I had that done before I went to the 2020 vents and now I’m lost on what to do lol.

I mounted my plate to the front passenger fog grill using washers, rubber grommets, the stock front plate plastic and two bolts. You could probably do the same since the fog grill still has an opening, it can be wedged in without taking anything apart and the washers clamp the grill to hold the plate without damaging it due to the rubber grommets.

I used a universal license plate mount and I spaced it away from the grill using leftover hardware from a TV wall mount. About 1” away from the grill.

That’s pretty close to what I have, I like that your version is quite a bit less bulky though.

Actually, that’s an older picture. I replaced the base with a universal one, a little thicker but still very low profile. Still used the same spacers. The original base was a leftover part from my Golf TDI (gasp!).
