Hi HomieGohan,

suggest filling the Speedibleed with 2-3 bottles of Motul (without going over the maximum fill line)

This should ensure enough fresh brake fluid to push out the old from each brake caliper as they are bled. It may be possible to tell when it’s done if the fluid changes color to clear and all of the bubbles are gone.

Suggest checking out this link on the old style bleeding method as it will help also:

here

As for brake bleed sequence:

Driver side rear
Passenger side rear
Driver side front outer then inner
Passenger side front outer then inner

Hi Tom,

I'm about to do the whole brake system on my FK8. I want to buy this speedi-bleed kit after reading your review on it. I have 2 questions though - 1: How did you proceed or would you recommend removing all the OEM fluid from the system before I add Motul brake fluid? 2nd: Is there a correct pattern on these cars bleeding the brake system after adding the motul? I remember from minor previous experience you start from the rear right and work your way up in a Z pattern?

There’s no reasonable explanation why an essentially new car constantly needs to be upgraded...Especially one that is as good as the Type R is :dunno:

Fortunately, my wife, Sara, is tolerant of my OCD-ness and doesn’t give me grief...

That said, she has her own obsessions when it comes to home improvement... which I cannot argue isn’t fair. This is the dreaded “mod tax” I joke about. :banghead:

She’s been wanting to renovate the backyard as it was a total mess. With Covid-19 pandemic and nothing to do, we started working on it full steam ahead and it’s continued all through summer... which is partly why my progress on the Type R has slowed down a little, even though new parts are on hand.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 362CE3A9-76A9-49E7-8A76-42148DE572F6

Here is the current condition of our yard. It’s come a long way... Still needs flowers, trees, handrails, lighting, outlets, more concrete poured and sprinklers installed... but it’s getting there.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R C93CC7D7-D516-4C8F-9820-A7A74B56F158

Yard work isn’t my thing, so cannot take credit. Fortunately, my wife’s brother is a beast when it comes to this kind of stuff. He also has a lot of friends in construction, so this has all been him. That’s Fabian in this photo of the original pathway.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 859EBF13-A3D3-4E77-B168-7B8DDE1A8627

Compared to how it is now after the stairs have been redone. Handrails, pathway lights and outlets still need to be installed.

Very glad this project phase is complete as it was preventing the car from being staged to do serious work.

With any luck, should be able to start installing parts soon....

That said, may have to pony up more “mod tax” once the missus sees the Type R getting the treatment again...

Happy wife... happy life ;)

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R ED81CCA8-ED03-4C33-A4D0-7660AA2D7E9A

Received a help request via PM from a forum member who just had a C&R race radiator installed and developed a coolant leak. The shop that did the work is closed until Monday so he was in a bind.

This fellow Type R owner lives just a few minutes away, so had him bring the car to see if we could fix the problem.

Raised the car and removed the under tray and plastics to access the radiator.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 3909E319-9038-4F7C-B15F-3E0720DCE5CB
The source of the leak was the lower radiator hose connection. Suspect due to a design issue with the C&R radiator.

It’s difficult to see, but it appears the base of the hose connector terminates right on or next to the horizontal weld joint.

The upper portion of the hose hits the weld bead(blue arrow). This results in a 3/4” gap on the lower side (red) that cannot be made up and becomes a potential leak point.

There’s a chance It leaked due to a sloppy shop install... but there wasn’t too much adjustment other than the position the OEM clamp.

Fixed the leak by adding a 2nd hose clamp. Hopefully that holds. The ideal repair might be to notch a cutout on the hose, but that would require completely draining the radiator :(

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 12F64E14-1150-48E8-9411-399AFFB09001
This is the PWR version. Notice the hose connector sits further down, away from the same weld joint.

Confident C&R will make adjustments to future radiators once this is brought to their attention. But for those that already have these, please be aware.

Update: adding the 2nd hose clamp repaired the problem. The car was driven hard today and there were no additional leaks :headbang:

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R C70295D0-B6D7-4A04-8CA2-8EFF9C5D8C80

Have been looking forward to sharing my experience with Carbon Zone Poland’s CF trim pieces, but had to wait for a couple pieces to complete the set. Here are Jacek Wiśniewski’s offerings, minus the steering wheel. 600G is an option, as are CF with red accents. I opted for regular 240G in regular CF.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R DB864669-25C2-4AEA-ACE0-25E3A7F29EF6

Big thanks to Jacek, for making sure my order was correct and including a nifty key FOB cover. ?

Each piece came with 3M double sided tape installed, ready to peel and stick.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 9B2E9AC3-4D26-40FD-8976-02FC71F859F6

Cleaned the surface using alcohol for better adhesion.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 7FAF3DA2-8FEF-4FE4-953F-70B6EC2285B5

Found using the tip of a sharp exacto knife worked great to peel back the edge of the tape, as it was very thin and difficult to grab.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R FBB20D33-D73C-4C0A-B740-C110817B2FEB

Each piece fits on top of the existing surface. This is true of all of Carbon Zone Poland’s pieces. Here is the backside of the key FOB.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 24F98D55-4277-494E-BBAB-2A508EFF47B0

And the front side. Hadn’t considered a key FOB cover... but am glad to have one. Looks pretty sweet and the added thickness is a plus. ?

Carbon Zone Poland specializes in CF interior covers for the OEM faux CF trim.
As mentioned in the prior post, each piece comes with thin double sided tape applied, ready to go.:)

Driver’s side door with Carbon Zone Poland’s trim, switch control panel, door handles and inserts. Gorilla glue or stronger tape will be needed to keep the pieces firmly installed, as some pieces want to lift a little. However that is a minor issue that should be easy to address.

Those pieces look great! (Link or more info on source, please.)
Try a hair dryer to help activate the 3M tape.

Also picked up Carbon Zone Poland’s CF mirror caps and had them PPF’d and ceramic coated.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 42973F26-10D1-4992-9ED7-AC92715D7545

They slide right over the existing mirrors. These don’t come with pre-installed adhesive, so it’s your option whether to use tape or glue.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R DA7FC304-7E0A-492E-876C-9483DCF5882D

Haven’t permanently attached them yet. Undecided if I like blacked out mirrors on CW... which is a testament how good Honda’s paint schemes are... but the look is starting to grow on me.

Also added Carbon Zone's CF vortex generator caps. These are attached with double sided tape. Was unable to have these PPF’s but they are ceramic coated.
They have survived (1) track day so far without flying off. ?

View from the rear.

Really like the offerings from Carbon Zone Poland. The owner, Jacek Wiśniewski is easy to reach via messenger or Facebook. Quality is excellent, lead times are reasonable and the goods arrived well packed.

Though non-Type R owners may not notice the CF upgrades, Being OCD, I certainly do and appreciate the subtle enhancements to the interior and exterior ?

My order initially included (2) incorrect pieces. Contacted Jacek and he promptly sent the correct ones, so it’s good to know Carbon Zone Poland stands behind their product ;)

Can view their offerings at:

https://www.carbonzonepoland.com/

If placing an order, strongly suggest reaching out to Jacek directly via messenger so he can walk you through the options. Just be sure to check Poland’s current time before pinging him:headbang:

Heheh BoostinIX, thank you for the good suggestion... Pardon the slightly dirty car. It’s my occasional DD... Really need to take a little time to clean the interior.

Hello Steveland15,

The front Honda emblem in black chrome (it’s really plastic, however) can be found: here

They also sell a (3) piece black chrome set, front, rear and civic badge: here

Have the front emblem and civic lettering installed. Have not yet put the rear emblem on yet.

How about the Front Emblem? Where did you get that?

Starting to get the itch (and old man energy back) to start working on the car and modding again... Have a backlog of parts to install.

Here’s a current list of things to do in the near future:
  • Check rotor and pad thickness. Replace if needed.
  • Tighten brake bleeders
  • Try different defouler setting
  • Adjust aim of headlights and fogs
  • Change oil
  • Install C&R core to HKS oil cooler
  • Install JRZ coilovers
  • Install RV6 suspension bits
  • Install HKS BOV
  • Install Motec
  • Buy a laptop
  • Get a tune

This post deserves two thumbs up. This will definitely be something, that I use and refer to for help.

On a side note.....We're very similar in that, I have a 1999 Toyota 4Runner which was used for the same purpose. I've had several Honda's along the way, as 2nd vehicle. My CTR isn't a daily, nor a track car. I just plan on keeping it forever, enjoy it for it's fun.

Thanks again for this info/link.
