2019 is not affected with the issue. Honda fixed it with software update from factory

Yes thanks for the correction

Is there a way to prevent it ?
Drive longer and drive harder ?. You will have very little dilution effect in every DI engine. That's why oil companies are making their formula better with every new standard for oil

Yes, change your oil at 5k intervals, use a GF6 certifed synthetic, use Toptier fuel and avoid short runs in cold weather. My Blackstone Labs oil analysis are showing under .5% fuel dilution using this protocol.

I generally see SN plus but not GF6

Usually not sitting too long idling will help reduce oil/fuel dilution. Just idling there with a DI engine on a cold start is brutal(probably on a warm operating temp engine too). I do take off after maybe several seconds from firing up the car. Get that combustion going and combust every droplet of fuel before the unburnt ones are sent down to the sump.

GF-6 is the new standard, started in may, designed to mitigate a lot of the problems associated with small direct injection turbo engines, GF-6a is backwards compatible for most weight.weights, GF-6b pertains only to the 0-16 oils primarily for hybrid vehicles.

You can't fix the inherent oil dilution of a DI engine with a simple software update. It may help but it definitely won't "cure" the design flaws of DI setups.

Yeah, well....

I use Amsoil SS, only drive trips of 20 miles or longer, minimize my cold idling time, and only use Chevron or Shell premium gas.

Yet my Horizon oil analysis still shows >5%.

How high does your level on the dip stick show ?

Did you got your software updated ?

I deliberately put in 4 quarts that oil change, so it was at the top of the dipstick the whole time. So far this interval the oil level does not appear to have risen, so we will see if the dilution is any lower.
