I guess I may just wait until the fitment issues can be solved....oil cooler perhaps....unless any one has any other ideas that dont require a full overhaul of the new part... thanks for any advice..its all welcome

Unfortunately, the J’s Racing grill fitment probably is what it’s going to be. Don’t see them changing their production process

The only way to fix, would be what was posted:

Here.

Which in a nutshell is:

Install the grill
Mark correct fitment gap with painter’s tape
Remove grill
File and sand down edge to the correct line on the painter’s tape
Test fit to verify it’s right. Remove and adjust if needed.
Paint and clear coat
Wait (30) days for paint to properly cure. Then permanently install and PPF/ceramic

Or pay a body shop to repair the fitment, but they will likely do the same as above.

Sounds like a pain, but it was actually a fun project to do. And here is the result. Used oversized hand cut weatherstripping and some of it is pushing out near the center. Doesn’t look too bad (at least not to where it bugs me) but redoing with the correct weatherstripping is on the list of things to do.

The other possible option is to gamble on the reproduction J’s Grill made by EPR and hope their fitment is spot on... but that’s rolling the dice.

I guess I may just wait until the fitment issues can be solved....oil cooler perhaps....unless any one has any other ideas that dont require a full overhaul of the new part... thanks for any advice..its all welcome

Finally got the J's grill and bumper on the car :)
I think I got lucky with the top edge fitment as I did not have to mess with it at all.
Very impressed with the size of the intake/gap to move air through, even with the Honda front badge logo holder in place.
I will post up better pictures in the next few days as I just got it done late today.
Good looking combo with the J's/Morimoto headlights.

Looks fantastic Jeff. Have been waiting to see how it was going to turn out. Have noticed exterior mods on Rally Red often turn out great looking.

Can’t wait to see more pics when you get time to post them up!

That is really fortunate the grill you received didn’t have issues with the top edge. Nice to know some unicorns actually exist ;)

Here are a few more pics I took today after I got the car cleaned up. I'm looking to get the car out to some nice spot to get better photos at some point..

Even though it took a lot of work to get the grill painted, ppf'd, and fitted I am very happy with the end result. I think its a great looking combo with the J's/Morimoto/Coplus headlights.
I'm anxious to get my NSX wheels on to see how that looks as well.

Love how the J’s grill turned out on your Rally Red, Jeff. You and your brother totally nailed it. Enjoy seeing great exterior mods on red Type R’s. The J’s/Morimoto combo is a neckbreaker, heh.

Thanks Frank. Took me a long time to get it on but I am very happy with it.

Why buy the original J’s if it fits like shit? Wouldn’t it make more sense to buy the knockoff from AliExp?
Absolutely not.

I bought a FRP replica J's grill made by EPR International off of eBay late last year. Ended up selling it to a friend with an FK7.

That replica fits like absolute shit. It's 1-2 cm narrower than the real thing so it can't properly clip into the bumper. The J's has fitment issues but they're nowhere near as bad as the replicas.
