Heading to the track and with social distancing rules in place you can't have an instructor in the car with you.
On top of that I need to bring all my gear: pop-up, chair, coolers, etc.*
So I pop the passenger seat out - don't need it and it saves 30 some pounds...
So now I have info lights and warnings and the usual crap air-bag error.
Yeah, well no sh*& Sherlock.

* a full size pop-up fits very nicely in the passenger seat well!

Whatā€™s wrong with having all the lights on? It doesnā€™t hinder performance, you can always put back the seat. Look it at as another dash light that you only see while tracking, like VSA disabled.
Itā€™s nice to know when a safety feature isnā€™t working, especially the airbags.

Yeah of course you are right ---
Cut my teeth on VWs and Miatas and just find the overwhelming intrusion of electronic "protection" a bit annoying sometimes.
Just wanted to vent.
;-)

Yea, itā€™s quite annoying to have so many sensors, especially when modifying. But at the same time, I love that peace of mind :). Have fun at the track

My VW's were the same. You can't do anything to a modern VW without coding the various BCM's and ECU's for it. Plus they break all the time. . .

I was going to say...

Wouldn't there be airbag warnings and other messages with any modern car these days? I'd imagine it's by federal law that there's warnings displayed if the SRS system is disconnected or malfunctioning, not just a Honda thing.

If that's all you have to worry about when it comes to your car, you're doing pretty well.

But - the seat wiring is UNPLUGGED there is nothing "wrong" with anything.
There is no "fault" no "problem" no "error" it just simply isn't there.
Seems like they could build that into the fault recognition program?
And let's see: you can't rev it to set a shift light because it has a limiter, you can't start it and not let it run for a while without a CEL coming on, you can't unlatch the seatbelt at 5 MPH as you enter the garage without getting yelled at, the TPMS is quirky as can be --- sorry but this car needs a "Set Electronics Intrusion Level" selection.

What you need is a classic car.

Yeah - actually I do!
Or a better balance between power, suspension and simplicity.
I looked for a real race car prior to the R but never did find anything worth a damn.
Miata's are great but (old) Miatas are slow and with a race suspension beat the living snot out of you.
You know 15 years ago Miatas were the most fun you could have. Then every car that came out had 120+, 150+ 200+, 300+, 400 HP and now you spend all day watching your mirrors instead of the track ahead.
Sad really ---- especially when you know that the driver in the Miata is probably 10X better/faster but is running on 100 HP.

Oh great - thanks - I just spit coffee out my nose.
I'd say you captured me perfectly.
I actually often use Grandpa Simpsons voice.
When I was young...

I'm able to fit all my track day gear, including pop up tent, in the trunk with rear seats folded down. Thought I had a pic of it all loaded up but instead a pic of all the gear unpacked

My 1978 911 SC Porsche tells me nothing
My arms tells me I'm getting a workout
as the car has no power steering
My cold sweats tells me I have no ABS
My CTR is constantly telling me to depress the brake pedal to engage the parking brake!!

Did two sessions at VIR on Saturday and called a day. The Honda Civic Type R is selling tomorrow... Have a deposit on a fully race-prepped Mini. My mistake - I found out that when I'm on a race track I want to be in a race car. And I'm old and I want the car to tell me what it wants not the other way around... I'll never regret a moment I spent driving it but it just ain't the car for me.
