aside from all specialist carsites stating its the upcoming next gen civic, Honda wouldnt test an exclusive US made and equally exclusive North American targeted model in Germany.....
They probably need a few testers in germany for some ring time.

It’s also really odd-timing to see a 2022 CTR right after releasing a limited edition for 2021. It’s the lagging Accord sales that needs a jolt in the arm.
euhm, look at the running years for each gen, than you see its even long overdue....

+ limited editions often announce the end of a generation

so no, perfect timing

Why do you think that, pretty sure that happens all the time. Consider the Hyundai Veloster N for example, designed by Koreans, tested in Germany, for sole release in North America. I know that's how they do it, I don't know how Honda does it.

Ok Can I get the same pair of glasses you guys are wearing? Lol

But seriously, you need to look at more spyshots. They end up looking completely different from people's expectations.
There are reasons why companies cover them up.

Looks like this is being tested in Europe based on license plate shape. Not sure what this really means. If this is the next gen Civic, wouldn't this be tested in Ohio?
German license Plate. Honda has in Germany a R&D location where some recent car's have been tested: FK8, Honda e, CRV Hybrid,...
They are able to test them on twisty roads, Autobahn and engine and suspension killing NĂĽrburgring.

The UK plant in Swindon is closing next year, probably they will produce the 11th Gen in Ohio (for NA Market), Japan, Mexiko or Turkye. (Last three for european and asian market).

Looks like a mix of a BMW, charger, and a civicx hatch. I’m curious but not sold...

I hope the guy who designed the butt ugly 10th Gen Accord wasn't on this same engineering design team. Few things they need to do address are the infotainment system, gear crunch, and possibly the option for alternate tire sizes. Maybe multiple trim levels would address these issues.

In terms of strict competition, it needs to fair well against the upcoming Subaru WRX STI refreshed design.

Another reason of why it may not even a Honda, those spokes on the steering wheel are way too slim than any other existing Honda steering wheels, yes, Honda doesn't need to stick with shared steering wheel with other models, but that happens a lot, even the new JDM Fit or the Accord isn't close to that slim, and the shape of the airbag too...

The shift knob, it could also be the center console designed to be really tall?
Honestly it's not a bad thing even if it's going back to the EP3 route, it's all about ergonomic, how fast and handy can the driver reach it.
Pretty sure the hand in the picture is the passengers hand. Not the driver's hand. You can even see his face blurred in the pictures.

Also, given the styling of the rims and the design of the headlights, 99.9% sure we can call this a Honda, while different in shape, the headlights still share the same LED reflector and turn signal placement the current civic LEDs use. I hardly think the steering wheel design can determine whether this is a honda or not. Honda rarely uses the same steering wheel across models (there's always small changes)... also, look at the wheel in the new Fit and Urban EV and you can see similarities in the round center Airbag housing.. and maybe the new CTR has it's own design for the steering wheel.

99.9% sure those are type r seats in the pictures. They look identical to current gen

I’m not digging it, I’m getting a bmw vibe and charger vibe by looking at it, I hope this isn’t where the civic is going

My 2019, 2-Door Si looks far sleeker than this.

Like most on this thread, I don't like the looks of this next gen if it is going to be bulky, overweight looking.

I'll pass & wait for the 12th generation.

They need to KEEP the sleek styling of the 10th gen Civic Si 2-Door. I get a lot of complements on its styling. No one has said anything negative about its styling.

I also don't like the 2020's front foglight flat plate. The honeycomb style of the 2019 is MUCH better & is consistent with the rest of the plates around the car.
hahahha

cameo stickers doing its thing right here

with cameo they can do a lot... even make your 'sleek 2 door SI' look like a Multipla

hence the purpose of camouflage

nope, they sell velostars in europe

edit: not anymore

that said I dont believe its an accord in the spy pics
the civic is from 2016 and in 2021 it will be 5 years old, do the math, look at previous gen civics and look at the average model lifespan in the current car industry
This is the new Civic as the professional car journalist correctly concluded

i am even surprised there is discussion about the identity of the car

Those side ridges/walls(whatever you want to call them) on the wing are massive!

The Veloster N is not available in the European market.
Correct. They have i30N and i30 Fastback N instead.
Germany gets all kinds of test vehicles from around the world and not all of them end up in European market.
Probably because everyone wants a piece of that Nurburgring.
