About 3 months ago I installed:
Polk tweeters/Polk speakers in the front door utilizing the tweeter faceplates (~$30 delivered) from a higher model and installing a passive crossovers inside the door. Speaker cost was ~$120 delivered. I have not done the rear speakers.
No need for me to describe a how to--see the pictures here for the way to do the tweeters/speakers
http://www.civicx.com/threads/2016-ex-t-audio-system-install.3610/

About 10 days ago I received:
Kenwood DDX 773BH DVD Receiver, Metra 95-7812B Faceplate, AXXESS ASWC-1, Metra 70-1731 Harness, Metra 40-HD11 Antenna Adapter. Total Cost was ~$360 delivered.

Additionally, I bought a Metra 70-1729 for the pins to wire the oem bluetooth microphone. for ~$15.

The new DVD receiver has been installed for about 6 days plus, so this post is a little late. The speaker tweeter upgrade made a difference with the stock headunit mostly in terms of clarity and the highs, however midrange and lows were lacking. I couldn't wait to get the lackluster headunit out. The receiver upgrade makes day/night difference in terms of sound, features, etc. I just can't say how much more enjoyable this car is now that it has a better sound system that does not filter out frequencies and has adjustability re crossover points/features/dvd player etc.

My reference articles were the following (Many thanks to the OPs!):

(rear deck removal video so I could run some wire)
http://www.CivicX.com/forum/11-exterior-interior/6826-diy-tail-light-removal-bulb-change.html (however I think OP got some colors switched--DOUBLE CHECK me!)

Some general comments re the install:
My first goal was to get all the connections soldered together. There were some exceptions: the illumination wire off the Kenwood that was connected directly to the rear parking led tailights, the power control wire for a future subwoofer, and the brown wire from the ASWC-1 3.5 adapter directly to the blue/yellow wire of the Kenwood. Butt connectors were used in those 3 connections

Next, I wanted to wire it so that the OEM microphone would work. I used pins from the metra 17-1729 connector and wired it to a stripped 3.5 mm stereo plug. The mic+ goes to pin 22, mic - to pin 23, and the mic shield goes to pin 6.

Then, I ran 2 wires from the driver tail light to the radio. A wire was connected to the reverse light and the led taillight. The positive current from each would trigger the reverse camera and the illumination (dimming) circuit respectively.

Lastly I ran the rca patch cords and remote turn on for the future sub. However after this past week of driving I may just keep the car as is now since I now have plenty of bass from the rear deck speakers and also from the front to satisfy my needs in my commuter car.

Regarding the ASWC-1, I had to program it manually using the directions. It did not auto detect for some reason. Relatively easy to do, just took some time and had to read the directions. ALL steering wheel controls work.

If anyone is undecided on changing out the radio--Just Do It!!
It makes a world of difference!

I am going to be doing the same conversion once I determine the fallout it will cause for my warranty with the dealership.

Does the DDX773BH support maps? I want to use my wayze or apple/google maps and have them displayed so I do not have to use a iphone dock. Does this unit support that?

Does the backup camera support the different view toggles?
Can you activate the backup camera to display while in motion? Sometimes it would be nice to have a better rear view while I am driving, not certain why this is not a built in feature of the car.

THANK YOU for doing the conversion and sharing with us!

That is good to hear

Not meaning to gunk up the post with my own questions but this is the first post I have seen from someone who went through the full conversion......

I just need to figure out if it is going to be possible to get the features I want in the aftermarket unit.

1. support to display apple maps, google maps, waze, etc (eventual support anyways, I know that carplay is incompatible with 3rd party navigation at this time).
2. 100% compatibility with existing car OEM features (backup camera, steering wheel controls, hands free microphone, etc).
extras: activate backup camera while in motion.

Hoping the OP with reply, but if anyone else knows I will appreciate it.

Question 1: If your new headunit supports those apps, then it will work

Question 2: It is 100% compatible with all the features the way I have it set up. I thought about installing a toggle switch to turn on the rear camera while in forward movement and decided against it, however, it could be very easily run.

I'm glad to answer any/all questions--sorry for the delay in my response

Thank you for the reply!

Does the installation feel chintzy? Are the features sort of half baked? When you skip songs, change devices, switch from radio to bluetooth, etc..... are there any qwerky issues that you have to deal with? Even the stock LX unit has some serious issues switching between phones/devices. I cannot say how many times we have gotten in the car and the system will refuse to connect to my device (and stays connected to my wife's) despite us switching it over in settings, etc. There needs to be a easier way to switch user "profiles." It is a point of constant frustration for us and is driving me to get the features I want in a aftermarket unit..

Still happy with my choice of the LX though.... never again will I get a car with a sunroof!

The install looks great. The metra kit and connectors were great. The only thing I would have improved about the connector is to have the bluetooth pins already wired so the oem microphone would work without having to retrofit it like I did with pins from another metra connector (see above pics). All features work as promised for my headunit and I have no quirks/bugs to deal with. My iphone 6 and this kenwood unit get along great.

Again, I must say the audio quality improvement is like night and day. As I've spent more and more time adjusting the crossovers and the speaker settings, even though I prewired the cables for a sub, I wont be getting one.

Can this play DVDs while in motion? Just curious. My son would get a kick out watching Beavis & Butthead in the car.

Greetings Sir. How did you order the Metra 95-7812B Faceplate, Metra 70-1731 Harness, and Metra 40-HD11 Antenna Adapter? when you got to the site, it wants you to sign up as if your a company. What did you do to get these things. I'm going to be installing Pioneer AVH-4100NEX in my 2016 Honda Civic LX.

Can you still use the feature where you hit the button on the steering wheel and say a name to make a call?

You should be good, those things are pretty universal. Your only talking 0.05" anyway. Might be a slightly snugger fit is all.
