From what I remember reading here the Si models should be introduced in the winter sometime which probably means on-sale date in the Spring. If it's available next Spring then it'll be a 2016 model. The 2017 model year shoulnd't start until around October 2016.Since the Civic Si will be released sometime in 2016, wont it make more sense for them to just call it the 2017 Civic Si? Or will it be release in early 2016? If it's released in mid 2016 then it makes more sense to give it the 2017 year.
Let's hope so. But then then 2017 will be released like 9-10 months after. Oh well. From what I remember reading here the Si models should be introduced in the winter sometime which probably means on-sale date in the Spring. 5 door hatch not coming until 2017 - http://www.civicx.com/threads/new-honda-civic-to-launch-in-europe-in-early-2017.194/The first to second model year transitions of new generations always tend to have an unusually short life. I gotta give it up to Honda, it's an ambitious rollout for 2016 --- sedan, coupe, 5 door hatch and Si. That's a heck of a lot in a short model year.
Actually if the Si is being released in March like the latest rumors say, that means the 2016 model year Si will only be 6-7 month run (from around March 2016 - Oct 2016).Let's hope so. But then then 2017 will be released like 9-10 months after. Oh well.
Oh I know I was just pointing out that the first year run won't be 9-10 months but shorter at 6-7 months. That's fairly normal for their first year run. Look at the launch dates of the 06 and 11 Si; both offered 4-6 months after the initial Civic base model debut.
Don't know how helpful this schedule is to the upcoming Si, but here was how the 2014 Si was announced:Oh I know I was just pointing out that the first year run won't be 9-10 months but shorter at 6-7 months.
Do you remember how far in advance of launch date Si models have usually been revealed? Might give us a ballpark time frame when we might see Honda reveal the Si.
If there's gonna be 4 months again between the unveil and sales start, they better show it to us soon or it won't make the projected winter on sale date.Don't know how helpful this schedule is to the upcoming Si, but here was how the 2014 Si was announced:
October 25, 2013 - Facelifted Coupe and Si announced for SEMA debut
November 5, 2013 - Facelifted Coupe and Si debut at SEMA
March 12, 2014 - Facelifted Coupe and Si go on sale
A repeat of Si launch in March would be consistent with the recent rumors. I don't think anyone would blame Honda for needing some more time for releasing the Si but not as many reasons why the base coupe should take until then.Don't know how helpful this schedule is to the upcoming Si, but here was how the 2014 Si was announced:

That'd actually make some sense from a marketing perspective. Then the coupe would not only look sportier but it'd have the slight performance bump to match the looks.Maybe the coupes all get the 201HP 1.5T and option for 6MT, and the Si gets a 2.0T....
love rampant speculation!
