How does the BC Wheel compare to the OEM? Is it thicker all the way around? What did you think of having a flat bottom? Thanks!!!
Much better feel as it is thicker all around. A short lurninc curve on the flat bottom and most noticeable when you do full wheel rotations when you grab on the flat part. Otherwise, I'm used to it now and welcome the extra thing space since I keep my steering wheel low.

Lol...that's definitely something that is harder to do with the flat bottom. Turn on your LKAS.

i'm 6'1 so it's usually easy for me, just dunno how that would work with the flat bottom .... good idea but i don't think LKAS is available on the Si =(

Got it. You will be ok being yoiy height. You may have to lift your leg slightly higher due to the flat bottom.

Installed the BC wheel today. Only thing that broke was the rear clip for the cruise control unit. When I was prying, the top two came undone quickly and I applied lateral pressure to the bottom one. I just JB Welded it back.

I just ordered the BuddyClub handle. BuddyClub is well-known and respected in the car scene here. I can't count how many times I've seen BuddyClub gear on JDM cars.

I think the Carbon Fiber Poland handle is nice too. Carbon freaks are overjoyed. Only thing is, the brand is not really respected in the JDM car scene.....yet.

Should have my P-1 in a few days.

1. Remove the negative terminal from your battery.

2. You’ll need a T30 torx screwdriver, an m10 Allen key, a Phillips head and flathead screwdrivers.

3. On each side of the steering column, you’ll find 1 torx bolt that need to be removed.

4. Now that the bolts are removed, the airbag console can be accessed. Make sure you don’t pull it too far out as the wires are still connected to the airbag. You just need to pull it out enough to access the connectors.

5. There are three connectors on the back of the airbag: green, grey, ground. The green and grey are removed by pulling the white tabs up. I’ve circled them for reference. The ground wire may need a flathead screwdriver to provide leverage to remove as it was somewhat difficult to fit my fingers in there.

6. Once these three connectors are disconnected, pull the airbag out and set aside

7. Place your m10 Allen key in the center bolt and remove. It will feel very hard to remove because of the loctite but keep in mind it’s just a long bolt and takes some time to remove (3 min).

8. You also want to remove the plug in connector that is directly above the center bolt (pink, black, and blue wires) It has a tab on the bottom.

9. Mark the nurling on the wheel and hub so you can easily match up the position again and have a straight centered steering wheel at the end of install.

10. Gently push on both sides of the steering wheel back and forth and the wheel will come loose off the hub.

11. Once the wheel is off, then starts the task of removing all the trim pieces. I didn’t take pictures of each step as they are pretty straight forward. All I can say is tread carefully because you can easily break the trim pieces if you try to rush or don’t pay attention to detail. The key is to wedge a plastic trim removal tool or a flathead wrapped in paper towel and carefully work your way around the trim pieces/oem button consoles.

12. There are two connectors that connect the wheel mounted buttons. These have tabs in the middle and are removed before removing the buttons.

13. Install trim pieces on new wheel and reverse the steps to reinstall the wheel.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
How do you take out the main bolt It took me mover 15mins with black and Decker matrix impact wrench and still can not take it off.

I used a torque wrench to loosen it then my impact wrench to remove it.

Seems like breaking loose the center bolt is an area of concern. I am going to try to install my new steering wheel this weekend. Do people recommend buying an impact wrench? Impact driver? Or will a socket wrench or Allen key be enough to muscle it out?

You will need something stronger to loosed the bolt. I used a torque wrench but I think you can use a high powered impact wrench. My 18v impact wrench was not strong enough. Include I loosened with the torque wrench I used the impact wrench to remove the rest of the way.

Update: I bought a 3/8 breaker bar from Lowe’s and a 3/8 inch 10mm hex bit socket. This was more than enough to break the center bolt loose. I opened the driver side door. I stood outside the car with one foot planted on the ground and one inside car on the seat and gave one good pull and broke the bolt loose very easily.

Hope this helps someone because I was stressed about it for a while and turns out it was easier than i thought

Did I miss something? How do you remove the air bag? You just pull it off?
