So how is the oil going back into the motor once it has been separated. As it is it looks kinda like a really nice designed catch can or is that feature being discussed at a later time
Presumably, unscrew said can after mileage interval, pour back into engine. Similar to some other catch can styles.

The oil that gathers in a catch can is contaminated with moisture and anything else that "bakes off" from the crankcase oil during operation. You shouldn't need to empty it except during an oil change, during which you can just pour it into your waste oil container. I wouldn't advise putting it back into the crankcase.

Makes sense!

I think my wording might've been a little confusing, so I wanna clarify - you DO need to empty an OCC as a maintenance procedure, but that should only be required during an oil change. If the OCC is filling up rapidly, your engine might have too much blowby or some other issue that needs to be addressed.

You can also take the chance to measure the amount of oil in the can and do a visual inspection, but for the most part this is just to satisfy your own curiosity and to see if anything seems out of sorts. On DI engines like ours, it's very typical for the captured oil in the OCC to have a gasoline smell. Visually, it'll often look light brown and soupy. During winter months it's not unusual for an OCC to capture and contain a lot of moisture with less oil, compared to warmer seasons in which it's typical to find a smaller amount overall with more oil vs moisture.

If there’s no plumbing of the oil back into the pan this is just a catch can with a really nice design,no? I thought air oil separators actually had a return line for oil back into the crankcase. The use of aos is kinda misleading in this case
The intended function of all OCCs is to separate oil vapor from air. There's nothing misleading about that - they are air-oil separators.

The PCV system is not and should not be routed back into the crankcase, and you really wouldn't want it to be. That oil vapor is a waste product that, on a factory PCV/CCV system, is fed back into the combustion chambers to be burned for emissions reasons. Much older engines had vent-to-atmosphere crankcase ventilation systems which would toss raw hydrocarbons into the air. Bad mojo imo.

You probably know this but for anyone else that's interested and unaware, an OCC gets positioned inline of the crankcase ventilation tubing that connects the crankcase to the intake tract, and by separating the oil vapor from the air that ends up in your intake charge it can have a number of benefits such helping to greatly slow down the coking of intake valves (important on DI engines, especially with forced induction) and can help prevent detonation that can be caused by oil vapor lowering the effective octane of the fuel charge in the combustion chambers.

If they're so great, why don't cars simply come with them? Well, because virtually every unmodified engine will operate just fine without one (with some notable exceptions such as the turbocharged engine of the R56 Mini Cooper S which would severely coke its valves every 30-40k miles and require a media blast cleaning to run properly), and it would be yet another maintenance item that an owner or lube tech might overlook. The more power you squeeze out of an engine, the more beneficial an OCC can be, due to increased temperatures, crankcase pressures, blowby, etc.

You can also get some of these benefits by using a high quality full synthetic oil with a low high temperature volatility (NOACK) score. But, that's different discussion and can of worms. ;)

lol. Thats the point. It doesnt. Whatever is caught by the catchcan shouldnt be returned into the engine at all.

Looks like a generic "universal" oil seperator with no tubing and a simple mount, then you can buy the mount seperately dedicated for your car.

Nice for people with unsupported cars so they don't have to spend on a useless mount. Arial Atom gang gang
