Not for conducting Top Secret surveillance, but rather as a small hobby.

Sounds kinda neat to fly one around and do some photography, and there's half-decent ones (https://www.amazon.com/Drone-Action...F8&qid=1474568747&sr=8-1&keywords=drone+1080p) on Amazon/eBay for cheap.

I know anything over .55 lbs has to be registered with the FAA now, but that's all I know. Anyone else into drones or interested?

I've always wanted one but I've never had the spare cash to spend on a good one. They are getting cheaper though so I think I may get one soon. I want to go to Ireland and Scotland sometime in the next few years so that might be a good time to get one along with a GoPro

I bought one of these little $20 drones to fly around the house so I could see if I liked it enough to want to spend the money for a bigger one. It was fun learning to fly it but got old after a while and I never bought another one.

But now that first-person-view goggle setups are getting cheaper, I am thinking about buying one of those, because that just sounds awesome. It seems like it would feel so weird to hover the thing around yourself, looking at yourself through the goggles and having an out-of-body experience.

I want one very much, especially with the goggles so I can feel like I'm flying around over cliffs and sorority pool parties. Just waiting for the tech to evolve more but more importantly for prices to come down. I can't wait for drones that I could sit in and fly but I guess that would technically make them helicopters.

That first-person view stuff sounds awesome, can't believe I hadn't run into that before! Might be a little dangerous outside tho lol...

I had a 3DR IRIS w/goggles for a couple years and also had a 130mm racer (goggles too). Both were fun in their own right with different things making them exciting. I think in the end the GPS-driven flights with great footage on the IRIS won out over the lightning fast racer.

I've been reading a lot about drones specifically drone racing and will purchase my first fpv drone come black Friday. Getting a cheap $50 one first until I get the hang of it then invest in a modular model later on.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just ordered a DJI mini 2. It's got up to 31 minutes of fly time. I've seen vids on you tube of them flying almost 3 miles high, and about 5 miles away. In the past, I just had a crappy $80 one, which you couldn't fly in over 10mph wind.

I've seen some great footage from the Mini 2. I'm almost about to pull the trigger on one too but I'm in that fear stage where you're not sure if you're picking the right one.

I recommend DJI as they are both forgiving and technology advanced. I started with a DJI spark (now replaced with Mini 2). After getting comfortable with it, I upgraded to the DJI mavic pro, and then again upgraded to the Mavic Air 2. I mostly use it for photography and the occasional videography. The view from up high is such a unique prospective that it’s easy to get a good photo. They’re not as hard to fly as you think, but you must be smart about flying on as it can result in some serious jail time or fines. The DJI Mavic mini being the loop hole to the FAA guidelines since it is under the weight requirements. Here are a few shots I’ve gotten from them

Those are some great pics! I know there are a lot of people who use drones for work. Can't wait to get mine.

I seriously want a Mavic Pro, but the stingyness in me wont let me do it when I have other things I really want to buy. :(
