Does the badge number reset in 2018 or it will continue to increment from whatever number they produce in 2017? If they make 20000 by 2019 the number will climb until end of production?

Wonder what is the previous generation number goes?

The badge number is very strange in that it goes up to couple of thousands so far. They should've stopped at a low number, IMO, or not include them at all. Resetting it every year would even make it even more strange lol.

It is interesting to find out how that goes in the previous generation... Since the number may or may not unique to the US,... hopefully someone will have an answer. 1004 may went to Europe or something,... if the Type R continue to produce to 2019, you may see the number goes up to 30000th... if they make that many worldwide.

Personally, if there are going to be a few thousand cars, the badge number doesn't seem that unique.

It would be different if Honda said the first 500 would get badge numbers or something.

The Type R badges are cool but I think Mitsubishi did it best:

Fairly certain Honda will follow the same method they used with the ITR. The numbers will reset for every year. For example, I purchased one of the first ITR in 2001 and my badge number was #007X. If they rolled the numbers over every year, I would've had 30XX.

It should have a number and a year on the badge if that's the way they are going to do it. Or say Launch Edition like they do on higher end cars.

You guys don't think that these first batches of 2017's are the only ones that are going to be numbered? I was thinking that was the case and then after this first(special round) they wouldn't be numbered anymore.

I think they will just continue the numbers upward to 2018+. Seeing how Canada is getting the 2500+ number badges. The other issue with the numbering system per year would be difficult to do because NA market is 2017 and EU is calling it 2018MY.
