In his latest podcast Kinch Rindel made a passing comment that the new CTR hasn't had much success in AutoCross. Considering the car hasn't even had a full season of racing yet, I found that an odd statement. The car hadn't even been classed in July.

As the overlap of the veng diagram of AutoCross drivers and CivicX forum members is small, what are people really seeing out there?

DS or BS, that is the question ...
This.

I don't think you can safely say how it will do either way until after Nationals next year, when it's had some time to be developed. I think in BS it's probably boned, but I could see it being competitive in DS.

Even with the Si and Sport Hatch, their competitiveness is mostly unknown. The data points are few and far between currently.

That's what I was thinking. It seemed a pretty sweeping statement given that this is just the beginning.

Curious why don't you think it can't complete in BS?

I'm sure it could do fine in local events, but at National events I'd bet on a C5 or Cayman S over the CTR all day long.

Danny Kao, out of the DC SCCA region, is having a lot of success with his Type R. He's consistently in the hunt for top 10 PAX and is still learning to the drive the car. He's running 285 RE71Rs on the front, a prototype RSB and toe out all around. Kao is an awesome driver and he's making the most out of the car.

I m just not sure this car can compete with national level Porsche Cayman S and Vettes? But will be fun to see how it does.

December Fastrack:
#22624 Honda Civic Type-Arrrg in DS

Per the SAC, add the following new listing to Appendix A:
DS
Honda
Civic Type R (2017)
Woo hoo!!!:spaz:

And, ETA:
#22882 Move RX-8 from CS to DS

The SAC would like member feedback on the following class change proposals for 1/1/2019:

Move from BS to DS
Audi
S3 (2.0T)(2015-2017)
TT Quattro (AWD)(2008-2017)
Ford
Focus RS (2016-2017)
Mitsubishi
Lancer Evolution (2003-2015)
Subaru
WRX STi (inc Special Edition)(2004-2017)
Volkswagen
Golf R (2015-2017)

Move from CS to DS
Mazda
RX-8
Nissan
350Z (exc Nismo)(2003-2009)
#22209 Class 2018 Focus RS in A Street

Thank you for your input. The SAC believes that the changes to the 2018 Focus RS do not warrant a separate classing from the 2017 models.
2018 FoRS could be interesting with its LSD. Anyhow, I'm happy with the D/Street confirmation.

Just an update on the autocross type R did exceptionally well even in the rain it was wet the entire time I was on the track I ran 73 seconds. There was an all wheel drive GTR there that ran a 69 so not too shabby considering I have no idea what I’m doing on a race track !!
