Hey All,

First time poster and owner. I bought my 2017 modern steel civic about a month ago. I just rolled over my first 1000 miles a couple days ago.

I noticed on the highway today there was a slight shake in the steering wheel at about 65 mph. When I speed up it gets less noticeable.

I haven't had hit any big pot holes so I'm not sure why it might be shaking.

Anyone else having this problem or have possible solution.

Sound like wheel balance. Possibly a defective tire but get the balance checked first. A weight could have fallen off.

If it is a shimmy at a specific speed, it usually means you are out of alignment. Unfortunately, this can happen at any time. Or you could have a wheel balance issue. The dealer should handle this, at no charge.

I believe alignment issues only manifest in the car pulling to one side or the other at speed. not shakes.

I agree completely. I have never had an alignment issue manifest in vibration. Unless it is coupled with a wheel imbalance. Dealer should take care of it for sure.

whats more, you know that your alignment is actually really good if your car is in a true track despite the wheel shakes. My previous car had wheel imbalance issues, which actually had a cascading effect of causing the rotors to wear unevenly, so when i would brake the steering wheel would also shake. All of this however the car's track at speed was still fairly straight.
