Did you not get the whole kit with the 1.5 adapter to fit the boot?
I did not. I did not want to remove the panels. Way to scared of scratching a panel. Iused 3M double sided outdoor mounting tape and cut strips. Then I pushed the boot tightly against the knob for a couple minutes. It is working for now. If it doesn't hold up I'll think of another hack. The knob sits really low so it doesn't really sag, but it did bounce around a bit before I used the tape...

I just thought of something. You do need the 10x1.5 adapter for the knob to screw onto. I did not buy the boot kit that attached the knob to the boot.

Spend all that money on a knob and then half ass the install :banghead:
The install is a bit half ass but I refuse to rip my console apart. If it looks tight I'm okay with a little hack and not risking a scratch...

Using the plastic interior tools you can buy for less than $10 At Harbor Freight or Amazon makes removing trim quite easy. If you are worried blue painters tape can always be added. It takes less than 5 minutes to remove the trim necessary.

Mishimoto carbon fiber shift knob. Real carbon overlay and perfectly weighted for me to row gears :)

I like the flat top as it makes it easier to grab around and shift, instead of resting my hand on top of the tiny factory knob

As long as the sun isn't shining directly on the knob, the laws of physics dictate that it can't get hotter than the interior air of the vehicle.
burn temperature.jpg
Yeah, but in my previous cars I've seen interior temps reach up to 160ÂşF, which as you point out is hot enough to cause burns very quickly. I mean, I'm going off my experience of not being able to drive my auto-transmission cars because the leather-wrapped steering wheel was too hot to handle....

But now that I have a little experience driving my CTR, I think I'm going to start with 3M Crystalline window tint first, because my arm was actually hurting from direct sun while driving. And if the tint can keep the interior temp under 140ÂşF, then that should be good enough to let me keep the stock shift knob.

Oddly didn't even have to remove the OEM boot connector literally just unscrewed old knob screwed right on only had to thread boot adapter down a few turns so helmet would sit how I wanted

Likewise “Daytona” Black series. Got it from wearelikewise.com part came from Australia and got here within a week. Not sure what the weight is but it’s an amazing height for someone looking for something other than a short shift knob. Part came with threading after I selected what thread I needed.
