Waddup FK8 Family!

I just wanted to share some knowledge on roof racks for the CTR. The good news is that they are the same roof fitment as the Civic hatch. I originally posted my rack on their page, but wanted to let you all in on the knowledge.

This is the Yakima baseline rack system on the Type R (clips 186 & 187). I have 48" Roundbars, the old style Yakima wind fairing, Yakima Jaylow Kayak holders, and Yakima hood anchors (which are awesome btw). I modified my bow and stern tie downs by adding some heavy duty carabiners which make loading and unloading a lot easier.

I’m pretty excited to get out and go kayaking this summer!

Yakima Baseline Towers -------------------$199
Yakima Roundbar Adapter ----------------$30
Yakima Baseclip 186 & 187 ----------------$100
Yakima 48" Round Bars -------------------$89
Yakima 44" Wind Fairing -----------------$109
Yakima Hood Anchors -----------$19
Yakima Jaylow Kayak Rack $189 x 2 --- $378
Yakima Frontloader Bike Rack---$199
Yakima 8 SKS Locks with Cores --------- $99

Total -------------------------------$1222

As you can see things like the kayak holders and locks add a little extra to the cost. They make some cheaper options for the J-hooks, but I really like the Jaylow holders. Great quality and easy to use.

Anyone else have racks on their Type R yet? Post up the info/specs!

Got out this weekend. Love being able to throw the kayak on the R.

Looks great on black CTR!!! Does it need any drilling?
Thanks, no drilling required. The rack can come right off if need be. It holds onto the car with the clips.

Looking good. Been wanting to get a rack for mine but I need to sell my old q tower based system first.

Thanks! I emailed Yakima and let them know I had the old Q towers and asked if they’d give me a discount towards the new system. They were nice enough to give me a pretty decent discount.

Is there padding underneath those clips to stop the paint being marked.
Yes, they come with rubberized padding now. In the past they didnt. An additional step you can take to protect the paint is to put down some vinyl where the clips will touch beforehand.

Oh what they didn't have pads on their new system at first?

I use painters tape to mark mark and protect the paint as well. I leave it there in the door jamb so I can remount rack easily

The old Q tower system didn’t have the rubber on the clips, just bare metal. Definitely an improvement on the new system.

Gotcha yeah I know what you mean.

Got a buyer for my old q rack so I'll hopefully get a rack soon!

My pair of Emotion Guster Kayaks on the Type R. I thought it would be fun to bring it out to cars and coffee this weekend. I'm ready for some warmer weather!!! :headbang:
