This is awesome, liking the progress. Is this still with just the downpipe and a clutch? I wonder at these levels how much an intake and inter-cooler would affect things. And at some point the stock catback will be a hinderance.

Imagine this Si could easily exceed 300whp if Honda had used the 2.0T instead of the 1.5T engine.

I'm sure no one would argue against that point, but the price would have been higher as well. I'm going to focus on working with what we have instead of dreaming of what could have been.

Definitely would have bought the Si if it made near that level of power from the factory. An Si like this would 100% beat a WRX (and anything similarly priced) on the track. I would totally take one to SCCA Nationals.

The stock 205hp is just an insult.

Well first, I dont have to imagine, they already do with the Type R. Second Honda would have also charged $30k MSRP and then people would say Im not paying $30k for an SI. I mean, buy and SI add the Ktuner DP and get a clutch, you come in under $30k and have tons of power

Indeed - but I think they could have easily made it and sold it for 27-28k... the 2.0T engine is nothing too special, the 2018 Accord is getting the same engine. Its not going to be 30k, 28k at most if not less than that.

If you think the v6 Replacement is going to be under $30k you are crazy. The current EX v6 starts at $30,995.

Exactly what I was thinking. $30k starting for V6 Accords. EX-L coupe is $32-33k all day

You might want to look into the technical specs of that 2.0T. It's got a wealth of new things going on in it. Watch this video

That's an Accord - this is still a Civic. You're deluded if you think the engine will add that much cost.

First, You brought up the Accord, you said the new Accord is not going to be $30k. It will.

and to put the 2.0 in the Civic would have been around the same. Dont believe me, then go read the head developer saying they could have done it but Honda didnt want a $30k Civic SI. That is straight from Honda. That tells me, they thought about it, did the cost analysis and decided against it

Obviously your reading comprehension is rather low - that pricing was in reference to the Civic. The Accord quote in my post was in reference to the engine not being anything too special.

And do you believe everything you read in the press too? My goodness how naive you are - they're just back pedaling trying to justify their lame choice of an engine.

If you don't like the Si, buy a different car. The 1.5t is here and no amount of complaining or speculation will change it. Maybe on the next one. This thread is about the power it does make, let's keep it that way.
