Hello,

We own a Honda CRV and I am planning to lease a 2016 Civic EX as our second car which will not be driven much. 12K per year tops. I visited a dealer and they offered $2,000 down (Taxes et al included) and $260 per month for 36 months. I am leasing for the first time and wanted your expert advise on what should I negotiate & what a good deal is.

Thanks in advance.

I currently have a 2013 Honda Civic EX that I am waiting for the lease to expire on. I have been getting quotes on an EX-T around $250-$260 including tax with 1st payment and plate fees due at signing (about $500).

I leased my ex over the weekend 0 Down & Registration/License added onto monthly payment. $203 per month (before tax) - 12K Miles for 3 years. Money Factor .00083, and they threw in the wheel locks. It was my first lease, and I have no incentives (college grad, military...)

This was also my first lease. I'm in So Cal with a 7.5% tax rate. I got an EX-T with splash guards, door edge guards, and floor mats. I said no to their aftermarket alarm and paint protection. I paid $600 to drive away which covered the first month and document fees.

Can you please elaborate more? How much is the taxes and how much is your monthly payment after taxes?
My dealer is offering me the same EX for about $219/M after a $2059 down payment. He used the rates and quotes from Honda financial websits.

The dealer can depart from msrp. Sometimes they say they cannot, but they can. What I did was look up the truecar offers throughout all of southern California, found the lowest (which was a dealer with horrible reviews) and took it to a dealer I trusted and asked them to match it. They basically matched it, setting the sale price at 19k. From there they were able to calculate the lease price. [19k+registration fees-14k]*36+ [msrp+14k]*.00083= 203.
