I was in negotiations with a Salesman when he accidentally told me that the 2018 models will not have numbered badges.
He said "you should buy this one because next year's will not have number badges."
I have also heard from other people that they've been told the same thing. What could this mean. Maybe next year they will build 12,000 or more Honda Civic type r's.

Well yes. I think the fact that there will be no badges for the 2018 is a big deal. And yes he is trying to sell me a car without knowing that I'm a solid rock. Telling me that made me want to wait and not buy his car lol

He's totally messing with you. Get you to pay their mark-up. I saw an old TR with the numbers in 10000s.

On the other hand, if you are not happy with the number you can always buy one from China and put it on, there is no way to authenticate anyways.

Unless you are going to put the car in storage the badge doesn't mean a whole lot. Maybe I'm wrong but they aren't even linked to VIN numbers so as said above they aren't authenticated and you will probably see a few cars with 00001 China labels diluting them. Personally I'm not a fan of the riveted label look in the interior anyway so doesn't bother me in the least if I get a car without one.

I don't care about the badge. I care about having a lot of type R and to only pay MSRP. Ooooo yeaaaaa

Even if there are no badges, get a bootleg one and call it a day. It's not like the numbered badge means any thing, the only one that means anything is #1.

Wait a moment - are you saying that dealers may just occasionally bend the truth a tiny little bit to make a sale? I'm truly shocked that such a thing could happen.

That would be sweet if they didn't have badge numbers for the 2018 model ctr's because it would be a clear indication of mass production where it will be sold at msrp. Hopefully it's true and happens as predicted.
