I wish I could get the numbers you EX/LX guys are getting. Damn Sport wheels look so good though...
i put my winter wheels on, 16" 205s vs 18" 235s and saw maybe 1 mpg improvement at best.

what kind of driving are you doing? mostly city and short distance or mixture?
That's about it. About a 20 minute highway trip once or twice a week. Rest of the time.its city driving or sitting parked inside a gated parking lot while I'm several states away.

So the LX hatchback comes with the turbo engine? Another reason I would never get one. Didn't know that.
All of the hatchbacks do. You are quite the hatch hater. :)

No, I don't hate hatchbacks...I hate THIS hatchback. Multiple spoilers, big goofy fake vents. :nono:
its the nicest they ever made....espacially that turbo engine is pretty economic when you need it and pretty responsive when at WOT!

I was getting crappy mileage on my last tank, 93 from Speedway, 35 mpg on the highway. Filled up with Shell 93, and boom 42 mpg on the same highway trip I just got 35 mpg this morning.

I'm not saying Speedway always sucks, I once saw similar mileage from Speedway gas, but I'm getting the impression Speedway gas is inconsistent.

I'm pretty sure the car calculated value does not factor in consumption while the car is idling. The consumption gauge goes to zero when you're not moving. This will make the car value better than what you calculate, and the difference will increase the more time you spend idling.
Hmm, not sure about that. My mpg goes down, albeit slowly, when I idle.

I have an EXL Hatch, and these are my MPGs with 87-octane:
Warm Weather = 41-43 MPG... average 65-75mph, limited city driving (probably can get 45 if I always drove at speed limit)
Winter Weather = 35-38 MPG... cold weather sucks... even with limited idling.

Also... remember the SPORT and SPORT TOURING models are both designed to run on 91-OCTANE fule... not 87!
The LX / EX / EXL are designed for 87-octane.
This is because the Sport / ST ECU fuel mixture is hard-coded to expect 91-octane.
If you put in lower octane fuel, you are more prone to knocking, or the engine skips cycles to prevent knocking... which lowers your performance.

If you're only getting 24mpg, there might be a problem.
What is your average MPH on the road? (system info should tell you this since your last oil change)
Also, are you pressing the gas or breaks really hard?
Also depends how much you are parked/idle at stop lights.
If you have no freeway/highway speeds, and always stop/go traffic, you might see numbers in the upper 20s... but shouldn't be mid/lower 20s.
Also, check what octane fuel you're using.
