you'll change your mind about cop chases when your 16 year old daughter who just started driving gets hit head-on and killed because the stupid cops were chasing a guy at 90 mph.

Well, if you had a loved one lost because of a police chase, I'm sorry. Didn't look like a super high speed chase for the most part. Didn't seem he was going faster than 70 and slower than that most of the chase. And it seemed the cops weren't that close until they spun him out. Regardless, the guy is a fucking asshole.

Ehhh.. There's really no causality between the police pursing a suspect and a daughter getting killed so it hardly qualifies as a 'fact'...

Had the suspect hit said daughter while the police decided not to pursue, especially in LA, then you got people saying that the LAPD has failed to 'protect and serve' by letting the criminal walk. Also, especially in LA where there's lot's of crime in terms of absolute numbers, you don't want to set a precedence by saying that the police won't take action... If the cop hits the daughter, they'll just say it's an accident with the police still prioritizing public safety.
