First Oil Change

When did you guys get your first oil change?
I'm at 4577km/2844mi and my maintenance minder says my oil life is at 60%.
I haven't changed the oil since picking up the car.

I'm planning on following the maintenance minder. From what I've read, it's pretty accurate, in that it takes temperature, highway vs city, driving habits, and a few other things into consideration. My oil life is at 70% at 4,000 km. FYI, there is another thread in this forum on the same topic.

What Honda maintenance thing? Maintenance Minder? You have it. See your Owners Guide at pg 128.

I meant i didnt pay for the 2 yrs worth of service maintenance from honda so i pretty much have to do it on my own instead of them tellin me when to go and alla that


So at the same time thats my question did you guys get that?

Our car is still working its way here from Alliston. We won't be buying a pre-paid maintenance plan.

I'm at 4.5k miles and tried to take it in last week. The dealership told me that it was way too early and I should wait until the maintenance minder alerts me or if the oil life gets between 10 to 15 percent. Oil life is currently sitting at about 50%.

You have an idea of how much theyll charge you for oil change and such in the dealership

I didn't get a price quote when I was there, I probably should've. My guess is something between $60-70? Guess I'll find out when I go in a month or two.

Varies big time. Closest dealer to me is $40 for blend, some are $60. Synthetic higher.

My dealer charge $60 plus tax for oil and filter both (Full synthetic honda oil). I am currently at 5700kms and oild life is 50%. Its mostly city driving. But I guess if you drive on highway often its around 1000miles or 1500kms for 10% oil life and for city driving it goes down to 700miles or 1000kms for 10% reduction in oil life. Very economical..

And haven't you been fairly hard on yours? Like you've done a few pulls I thought I remember hearing you say?

Here and there. I pick my spots to spool the turbo ... hahaha. I've only cracked 100mph couple times. Done 0-60 (or so) several times. Wish I lived in Jersey. We'd settle this cold air intake dispute real quick with that fellow who's already installed the Injen product. hahaha

But I also really love to see the mpg computer exceed 40, too! And it's done that a LOT on my daily commutes, and I'm sure it will go up in warmer temps.
