This is my first one (in my touring). It's obviously different when you first drive one. It's even more obvious that it's better after you've driven a while longer. Turns the entire car into a smoother machine. Pat

Smooth pickup, good acceleration. Bit weird at first that there's only one gear but you get used to it quickly. Or you can just switch to sport mode for more of a traditional auto feel with simulated gear changes.

If you drive it like it's intended to be driven you will have no problem after a quick adjustment. Start gunning it or driving it lively and you'll shoot yourself not getting an Auto or Manual. Not like you have a choice anyway. Otherwise on a typical commute, it's like riding the subway. It builds speed without interruption. You hit your cruising and you slow down when you need to stop. It's actually pretty calming.

But there is no non-CVT automatic option for the Civic X?

Hence why I said "not like you have a choice anyway"
