Could it be possible in the future to mod the CVT to be reliable at 250+ torque?

Others have posted that about 250 torque on these CVT transmissions is the limit. Could there be a way to mod the CVT, now or in the future, to push it further?

Maybe different drums and a thicker belt?

I wouldn't expect any upgraded internals for that CVT. Someone may develop a cooler kit and you might could change the fluid but I don't know if that would let it safely hold more power.

The best mod for the $ would be a manual at that point

If you want more torque out of your 1.5T, you should have gone manual.

The engine can get way up there if you change the turbo... it's just the CVT is the bottleneck for this car.

Yes I know. I'm not racing this car. I'm just curious of the possibilities with upgrading the CVT.

There's a cvt cooler, but that's not going to guarantee it can take more power. The CVT isn't really built to be taken apart and upgraded. It's also cheaper to buy a new one then repair. If there was a CVT internal upgrade. It would probably be around the same price as swapping to a manual.

I wonder how much $$$ and trouble it would be to put the 8spd DCT out of the Acura ILX in a Civic? It is already made to connect to a K series....
That would solve the CVT issues for those who don't like to shift......
I know Honda recently patented a triple clutch 11 speed...
Who wants one of them?

Honda Civic 10th gen Could it be possible in the future to mod the CVT to be reliable at 250+ torque? DSCN0119_zpsvqrfbdfb

We are getting ready to develop and machine an inline thermostat housing for our CVT cooler kit in an attempt to increase longevity.
