I've had RPF1s on my WRX for 9 years, 12 track days, a rallycross, 140,000 miles and some ski trips. They rock. (and my WRX weighs almost 3300 pounds)TireRack says 18x8.5 ET 40 (forty) RPF1's fit the Type R. So far, at $286/each, they're seemingly the "best buy" in track rims. Myself, I would take the ET40 fitment over the ET60 fitment for track use if I was stuck with 8.5" wide rims, but that's me (and I wouldn't buy 8.5" rims unless forced to). The interesting part will be pricing - can the price of a low-production fitment match the mass-market price of a BMW fitment.
(I know lots of people who run RPF1's on the street, but I don't know anyone who (still) runs them in a BMW, i.e., a 3100+ lb car. Just my opinion. OTOH, they're inexpensive enough to replace.)
