Civic Si Turns 30 in 2016

So I just put 2 and 2 together on this. The Si was first introduced to the Civic line in 1986 (85.5 for the CRX) which will make the 2016 Civic Si, the 30th anniversary model.

No one at Honda (that I've heard or read) has mentioned anything about this. Might there be a special edition in the works? Or have they forgotten all about this?

Good thinking, didn't even realize that. . It'd be a missed opportunity if they don't. Not like the model has been discontinued, I don't see why they wouldn't celebrate it somehow... a special edition would be ideal or even an anniversary package of some sort.

They had a very limited run of 30th anniv Type R's so i don't see why not. It's perfect timing with the new model coming.

Still early in the marketing for the 2016 model. Bet we see it used extensively once the ad blitz for the production model starts.

I didn't even know what the first gen Civic looked like and just looked it up after this thread. This thing is awesome!

Now I get why ppl love Civic hatchbacks.

I think it'd be the perfect splash made if Honda revealed a 30th anniversary Civic Si at SEMA next month. It'd be more dressed up than the standard Si so it'd fit in nicely with the modified theme of SEMA.

Sometimes I think to myself how people went into car dealerships/auto shows during that "box" era of designs, and actually found them attractive. "Oh wow look at the design on that one"

Si line up should have body colors that no other honda has ...I mean keep the basic white black red....maybe a matte finish to celebrate !!

This is what happened for the 20th Anniversary of the Si....Honda ran SEMA in 05. I was there in 06 for the Mugen reveal and it was an awesome experience! This video really shows how much excitement & enthusiasim there was for the 8th gen si! Great Watch with some Civic si history.
