CarPlay next and previous on steering wheel

CarPlay has stopped allowing me to use the steering wheel controls for the next and previous song, although the volume button still works.

And also the next and previous buttons on the steering wheel still work to change am/ fm radio stations etc...

Which phone and iOS version?

Have you tried rebooting the Honda infotainment system (holding power until it asks for a reboot)?

iPhone 6s Plus. iOS 10. But was also doing it on iOS 9

Have also tried a 5s on iOS 9 and it didn't work.
I'll try and reset the head unit.

It works for me on iOS 10 with a 6s. Given that you have had this problem with on a 6s plus with 9.3.5, 10 and also on a 5s, Have you tried a different cable?
