For the record, the K20C2 is manufactured in Ohio. The rest is built in Indiana. For anyone else interested, you can read about where Honda manufactures its entire domestic fleet (sans the CTR chassis):
https://hondainamerica.com/manufacturing/

Ironic that the two biggest recalls on the Civic had to do with domestic manufacturing issues. :)

Lots of pessimism here, so I went and did some research / comparison.

Focus RS has 350 BHP, 34xx lbs curb weight, 13.4 sec quarter mile. $36K MSRP.

Golf R has 292 BHP, 3300 lbs curb weight, 13.6 sec quarter mile. $39K MSRP.

CTR has 305 BHP, 27xx lbs curb weight (base civic hatchback, minus weight reduction, plus turbo weight), IT WILL SMOKE BOTH OF THOSE CARS.

CTR will run low 13s at 27xx lbs, probably 13.0 or 13.1.

CTR is worth MORE than either of those cars. $40K MSRP is not unreasonable at all.

Unless the msrp is 32k or below.
So what you're saying is you cant afford a 316hp car. Got it..... Maybe you should get a Si?

Its definitely going to be more than 32k. They said Mid-30's. My guess is 36k with destination and handling.

And in my OPINION I think it's going to be worth every penny.
Agreed!

It's not going to be that light. Should be just over 3000.

Yeah I don't know where that 2700 is coming from, but definitely not happening. This was already discussed in another thread, it is slightly lighter than the outgoing Type-R.

Sorry Joe but I think you are dreaming a bit if you think the CTR is going to run a low 13sec stock. The previous CTR only managed a 14.0sec (approx) in the 1/4 mile.....

As said above CTR weight will be slightly over 3000lbs. My last 2007 Civic Si was over 2800lbs and it was a smaller car than the new Civic.

CTR will be a great car for the streets and road course, but 1/4 mile times is NOT its strong suit and it will get demolished by AWD competition every time.

Compare the last time Honda sold Type R in the states (ITR). 2001 Integra LS curb weight was 2643 lbs. 2001 ITR curb weight was 2639 lbs. ITR was LIGHTER than LS.

Base 2017 LX hatchback weighs 2822. Unless Honda engineers aren't even trying, I don't see how CTR will weigh more than that. Seats, carbon fiber components, no spare, etc... all bring the weight down. It will be 2822 at most, bank on it.

Didn't Honda already say it was lighter than the base LX hatchback?

DC2 back 17 years ago didn't come with more than 2 airbags, and that sound deadening compound was minimal at best. These days 8 airbags system is quite standard. We get 12 speakers of a 5xxW stereo with the car.

Just one question, how are you guys so certain it won't come with spares or sensing when Honda technically hasn't released the full spec of the car?
Last type R I had it came with spares.
Carbon fibre components we're talking about the lips and side skirts which adds on top of the hatchback model, and even that there are a few people challenging whether that's real CF or not.
Also don't forget that the Type R has a lot of chassis reinforcement to make up that 38% more stiffness over fk2, being a complete noob at mechanical engineer myself, I'm convinced that's bracings and more bars as reinforcements, so that's adding more weight. I could very well be wrong on this, but at this point I'd prefer to keep it realistic about smoking other cars.

Honda stated its exact weight compared to the FK2... was what 18 pounds lighter? It's 3000+ pounds.
European cars spec the weight including driver and some other stuff, so the US weight will be lower, maybe 2850 is my guess.

No they don't... They put the car on a scale and weight it. FK2 = Curb weight 1382 kg (3047 lbs). Honda stated it was "Type R has an aluminum hood, contributing to a 16 kg (35 lb) reduction in body weight versus the previous Type R"

3047 - 35 pounds = 3012 lbs

I don't trust them comparing it to the current hatchback weight. I trust that they know the curb of the old Type R since it's the same motor, suspension, transmission, etc.

Remove those worthless 20" rims and a battery that was designed for the REAL type R in europe that has the engine stop/go setup... You will be sub 3000 easily.
