My 6MT has been getting about 38 mpg on highway trips (including 15% city driving to get to the highway), that's on premium. I tend to leave it on cruise at 76 mph.

I just swapped my 18" wheels for 16" wheels (19 lbs each) with 205/60R16 snow tires. I got about 38 mpg on the same 90 mile highway trip that I got 37 mpg on the 18s.

So I feel like the heavy 235 width 18s don't really hurt gas mileage much, maybe 1 mpg.

Varmint, I thought you were going to put in a tank of 87 octane to report back on any performance/mpg differences?

Lol, i was, but didn't want to switch right after swapping wheels/tires. I'll do it next tank. :)

Thanks for sharing. Very tempted to get a Hatch sport and there isnt real info on the MPG with the bigger tire and wheels.

I'm at around 150km in with my sport 6MT... Right now I'm at 9.6L/100km which equates to 24.5mpg. All city so far. I was hoping for better gas milege than my accord.

The pic is my most recent drive...6.9L/100KM for downhill/very light on throttle and previous trip is uphill and in heavy traffic.

I floor it and also amateur hyper mile. My cvt 1.5's best tank was 45.5 mpg. My goal for the tank was as close to 700 miles as I could get but has dropped to $1.68 at 550 miles and I had to fill up. This was 365 miles just as the last dashes disappeared from 1/2 a tank.

If I drive like everyone else in stl I will average 38-39mpg 70/30 highway city. I can easily pull low 40 tanks out. It becomes increasingly difficult beyond this point. Those pulling 50 plus are driving 650 miles of straight 55mph highway on level ground. I don't have what it takes.

I feel like the intersection of people who pay extra for 8 horsepower and people who drive 55 on the highway for extra gas mileage is a very small number of people.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm either. The only reason I push the mpg issue is bc the lady lives 48 miles from me. So that's 100 round trip. You get the picture.

I am one of those people lol. One time, because I was driving so slow to push the mpg number, A cop pulled me over thinking I was drunk driving...#truestory

Just an update, did the 90 miles highway trip today and got 37 mpg, same as with the 18" wheels and tires.

So the effect of the fat tires and heavy wheels in mpg is not perceptible to me.
