So I was at the show. All they did was to pull the car on ramp and there was no announcements.

When they pull the car down I noticed the car doesn't make any noise at all. Pretty much sounds like a regular Civic with the ticking injectors. Maybe in the official film they faked that exhaust note .

I was able to get around security and got the VIN before they kick me out . Here are the pic. Let's get the digging going.

The carbon looking lips are cheap paper warps.

How do I upload pics?

That would suck if they faked the exhaust note, especially with one of the biggest complaints about the FK2 was the lack of a decent exhaust note. So instead of fixing it, they just fake the sound? I guess you can't really put anything past Honda when it comes to embellishing videos, with the SI's rear wheels spinning... With that being said, in the video release, the exhaust note doesn't sound throaty until they revved it out. I have a feeling the car won't wake up aurally until you get on it. But I guess we will have to wait and see. Which should just be the slogan for the FK8. "The All-New 2017 Honda Civic Type R, Wait and see"

Car #15 then? Were you able to see the vin tag inside by the shifter?

FWIW, the VIN from one of the ones in Geneva is

SHHFK8740HU000021

I wonder if the '2' in 200015 means US bound?

DUde that's funny because it's true!!! Heck I think we'll be going to the dealer to pick it up and still be doing the 'wait and see' if it's actually on the lot.

About the exhaust - I think the one engineer or product developer said they were not piping in noise 'like some manufacturers.' I think I can agree. There's so much muffler on the end of that thing and it still appears to have a resonator section directly below the drivers seat area - it's probably loud if it was in the garage in your quiet neighborhood, but very quiet in a large space like they had it in... I mean unless everyone shut off the music and held their breath... I'm sure it was just idled out of there maybe not even in gear if possible.

Bloody hell here we are still waiting.

The other possibility that it could be is auto start stop :p Go listen to any car with auto start stop and that sounds IDENTICAL to the way people described it. Sounded like it was off while it just sat there... Well. The European model will do exactly that! Although the VIN number shows it's most likely the american model I just wonder it has some of the European features as a mule for demos.

Although you said you could hear the injectors so that's not it...

what a shitty unveiling they did..i had all this excitement built up.(my fault)
They should have pulled it up on stage and hit 6000 rpm or something, everyone would have went nuts and it really would have given us something to talk about, that would have caused some excitement for everybody.

Yep, another big disappointment. Thanks again to @revin9k because he and others there yesterday put pressure on Mike to say something and he sorta caved and then went on to say we will get different wheel options and option packages. Other than that, it sucked bigtime..

Yeah I wasn't there when they pull it up . When other cars goes up on ramp they do rev it up.

Pretty sure I won't be the one buying the 2017 MY. Of course this car will be limited for the first year. Because 2018MY is coming after a few months. Let's say 2017 is gonna be available for sale in June. You drive the car for 6months and it's already 1 year old. Not to mention the next model year will have most of the bugs worked out. Less hype to jack up prices too. First year of the 2016 2.0L Civic's engine had fire hazard for example.

But you can also say if they only build a few 17s, that will help the value in the end, (less units means more resale value) no it sort of cancels it out.

The way I see it . Yesterday's debut wasn't even an planned one. They don't have any Honda or Type-R banners anywhere. All they had was 2 guys. And the main stage is for every car going for the show awards.
