We are here live at YouTube Space LA for the 2016 Honda Civic sedan global debut!
Here are the very first images from the event of the Lunar Silver Metallic sedan. Be sure to keep checking back as we get you all the latest of the next-gen Civic X!
What details do we know so far? Here is what Honda has told us:
- All-new platform and powertrains
- Coupe, Si, 5-door hatchback, Type-R all confirmed for the U.S.
- Two all-new engines
- Base LX and EX models will come with a new 2.0L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine which makes 158 horsepower (15 HP more than current model) and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission on the LX and a CVT on the EX.
- The EX-T, EX-L and new Touring trim receive an all-new 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine which makes 174 horsepower (31 HP more than current model) and is paired with a CVT
- Above 40 MPG highway fuel economy
- Honda has no plans to offer a hybrid or compressed natural gas-powered Civic
- Expecting highest crash rating for any compact car
- Lower, sportier seating position
- Low and wide stance - nearly 1-inch lower and nearly 2-inches wider than current model
- Shortened front overhang and 1.2-inch longer wheelbase which pushes wheels out to the corners, creating a more aggressive stance
- Headlights and taillights on upper trim models are all LEDs
- Despite lower roofline, cabin space is class-leading
- Backseat provides an additional 2-inches of legroom
- The raised rear section highlights the fast profile and also increases trunk space
- More sophisticated, high quality and tech-packed interior
- Redesigned suspension for better handling
- Body is 25 percent more rigid and aerodynamics have been improved by 12 percent
- Driving refinement and quietness unprecedented in a compact car
- 450-watt 10-speaker system (in the Touring trim) is the most powerful audio system in the competitive set
- Standard Pandora compatibility and HD radio
- Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility
- The 10th gen Civic will be "the most dynamic, most refined, most stylish, most technologically advanced Civic ever produced."
