C&D seems to think the 2018 MY (prob out in August 2017) GTI will get the looks and the minor engine tweaks. What we probably won't get is the space station dashboard (reserved, for whatever reason, for the Canadian market e-Golf)...
I can personally guarantee you that there is at least one person on this board who could afford a Corvette or an F-Type who is planning on buying either an Si sedan or a GTI.
I strongly, strongly doubt this.
We know the CTR will be out in Spring - which likely means very end of May.
Si will likely be out late April or early May.
The Si doesn't come as a hatch, and the CTR will be faster and handle better. I wouldn't do anything that would have noticable effect on the street, and I couldn't care less if the resale is shot.
If I buy a CTR, it will be to drive it until it falls apart, which - for Hondas - is usually in...
If I opt for a CTR, which I very well might, it will be my DD. I would also be yanking the spoiler, cutting a hole on the roof, debadging it and never, ever taking it to the track.
The CTR, like the ITR before it, is not a race car. If it were, it wouldn't be street legal.
I don't see the CTR coming out until after both Si versions are on lots. It would not be unheard of for the car to go on sale at the same time or just a few days after the debut at NYIAS. We could still be looking at (late) spring (April/May) for the Si and June/July for the CTR.
Just got an email from Honda about "unleashing" the ST. Too bad your can't get it with a proper transmission in the US - I'd buy one today if you could.
Normally, I'd agree. But then again, Honda's marketing people also showed a video of the rear wheels of an Si breaking loose, so all bets are off.
Really, though, I think we can be fairly sure that the Si motor will beat the 205 we got in the 9g by a non-trivial margin. Although it's pointed at...
Your passanger (sic) can watch on their tablet or their phone. Any moving video on any screen in view of the driver is a distraction and is rightfully disabled.
@Bamaaviator - it sounds like you've really had a hard time, and this is really just piling more on top of that. We've all made stupid choices, and some of them have cost sizable chunks of money. The key is to learn from the experience and move on.
For those of us who love our cars and buy...
It sounds high, but the estimate doesn't seem unreasonable.
Don't forget that your touring is 9/10ts of a self-driving car, and for those safety features to remain "safe", all of the wiring, sensors and other fancy do-dads need to be working right - not to mention the tightly-packed engine...
Since nobody will offer a car in the proper config, I'm thinking outside of the box - get a CTR or Golf R and install an OEM sunroof (pretty straightforward job on the Golf R, but probably a tough job on the CTR)? Get another GTI? Import a Civic hatch ST from Canada and get a reflash? Suck it up...
C&D also reported there'd be a hatch Si. That being said, I think a mechanical LSD is a given, especially since it was a central feature of their flimsy reveal and press release.
If the car performs better than the 9g (as Honda is claiming), I couldn't care less how much HP it has. The Si has always been a "whole-package" car, and that's what I'm in the market for.
While I think it'll have 220hp +/-, it doesn't really matter. Wait until you drive it, read how C&D can...
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree here - I think this is precisely what the consumer wanted.
This forum is a hugely self-selected population; Honda has sold a shit-ton of Si-badged vehicles over the past 30 years, and they know the market pretty well. Now that Honda has jumped into...
